New Olympic sports you'd like to see

I think I did. Oops.

Yeah they are pushing for it, but the no ice/snow thing is problematic. Also a sport that is really only popular in Belgium, with occasional Dutchman, Czech or Frenchman having a go as well. It can be epic though.

Lollygagging.
mmm

My eyes!!! Gaaahhh!’

The 100-meter mosey.

Doggy style, with a full pipe.

Bandy.

I agree with you SandyHook, I also would prefer Ski ballet back. Upon reading, I found out that it was popular during the 80’s and it even became a demonstration sport in the Winter Olympics in 1988.

Can’t believe no one said Jousting.

Ah, crap, I meant to. Count me as a +1 on this for sure.

I actually paid to download Full Metal Jousting from iTunes just because I wanted to see what happened after they hooked me with the first free episode. I thought it would be more interesting if they showed longitudinal progress over time instead of setting it up as a typical adversarial reality show. They were all basically beginners at real jousting, though most of them had related experience. Watching inexperienced people isn’t as interesting as watching either progress toward mastery, or watching really good people competing.

Footvolley.
I’m telling you it is an AWESOME sport to watch. I saw on the beaches when I was studying abroad in Rio de Janeiro. And how interesting to note, that while doing a Google search so that I could provide a link, I found out that Footvolley was created in Brazil, by Octavio de Moraes, in 1965 in Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach.

Wikipediasums it up rather well by saying: “footvolley is beach volleyball except players are not allowed to use their hands”

Demo Derby. Back in the 80’s a couple race tracks, one in Washington, the other in British Columbia would host the Can-Am demo derby. Each track hosted a derby with points being awarded. The team that scored the most points after both demos was the winner.

Yes.

The major difference from “professional” MMA seems to be that there are only two (5-minute) rounds per bout, unless it ends in a draw, in which case an “overtime” round is fought. (There is no specified procedure for what to do if the OT is a draw as well, but it could be as simple as “no judge can score the third round 10-10.”)

Tae Kwon Do is an olympic sport. Last summer games, the US team included the members of a family from Houston. Brothers and sister.

What course do you play at and do they allow public play?

The Asian version, Sepak Takraw, is in the Asian games and is indeed awesome to watch.

Here’s last year’s world cup finalbetween Thailand and Indonesia.

Personally I’m really looking forward to Rugby Sevens at the Rio Olympics. It’ll be awesome.
