New, or different, (alcoholic) drinks

I’m savoring a concoction new to me this evening - a Guinness (from the can with the CO[sub]2[/sub] cartridge) with a jigger of Smirnoff Vanilla Twist vodka thrown in. Damned yummy, if I do say so myself!

I wonder if it has a name in the outside world.

Anyway, anybody else discover a new beverage lately? Or, perhaps you’d like to tell us a not so well known favorite of yours?

Not new. And quite unfashionable. But I’m a fool for a whiskey sour. N.B.: Consume at home only. You risk public humiliation if you order at a bar.

Well, in some quarters that’s called an “abomination”; if I had to name it, I think I’d call it “Ermaleen.”

Screaming Viking! Screaming Viking! Screaming Viking!

Is mixing schnapps with club soda and topping with whipped cream and a cherry a well-known drink?

I’ve never heard of it, lel.

So Smeg, what’s a Screaming Viking?

Interesting. I ordered one about six months ago at a restaraunt with no repercussions.

The only good drink I ever invented was coca-cola and cherry flavored brandy. Being creative, I called it a “cherry cola”. But one word of caution; use cherry flavored brandy - I once made the mistake of using actual cherry brandy and it was nowhere near as good.

I used to be a big fan of Wild Turkey old-fashioneds–Wild Turkey with some bitters, crushed cherries, a twist of orange, and a bit of sugar. Only recommended for hard core boozers.

Old Cheers joke. Basically, the gang wanted to get rid of a bartender that had been foisted on them, and they got Rebecca, who was the boss at the time, to agree to fire him and hire back Woody instead if someone ordered a drink he couldn’t make. Suddenly, everyone started ordering Screaming Vikings, which, of course, didn’t exist. But Woody, again of course, knew how to make it.

Classic line: “You want that cucumber bruised, Mr. Peterson?” “Slightly.”

Even though it’s been around for a few years, I love vodka and Red Bull. Drunk and caffienated is the only way to go.

damn. I was going to say that one.

There’s a certain concoction known as “the Hook” that’s often served at parties in Pittsburgh. That’s fun, and good for getting drunk in a hurry.

For a cultural experience, try Baijiu (Chinese rice-wine) and pineapple. You won’t like it, but you’ll get drunk in a hurry.
bamf

A heaping tablespoon of chocolate powder and a strong shot of peppermint schnapps mixed in with a glass of milk. Nice minty flavor, goes down real quick; it’s very easy to get a buzz off of it.

…heh, heh, I think I will add the Screaming Viking to our cocktail list (at my bar) along with Romulan Ale and Smegjuice… I wonder how many of my patrons will recognize the origin!

Something simple, and quite potent yet you’d never guess you were drinking alcohol: gingerale with Stoli Vanilla and a twist of lime. Yes, for some reason it doesn’t taste as good without the lime.

It tastes just like a cream soda, but beware, it tastes just like a cream soda…

In a highball or a beer glass, put about two ounces of Stone’s Green Ginger Wine and top it up with plain ol’ soda (and ice). It’s a great summer’s day drink. It tastes like a very nice (alcoholic) dry ginger ale. The dilution kills the syrupy sweetness of the Stone’s. It’s not very strong in alcohol either so you can have a few of them on a hot day.

I don’t know if it’s a recognised drink, but I started doing it myself a few years ago.

Coors, Wild Turkey, sangria, Tanqueray and Smirnoff all mixed together and drunk from a used mukluk.

Okay, it was pretty awful and is referred to only as “Remember that time?”

During the Christmas season I found that a bit of Scotch (I used Glenlivet) in some egg nog is pretty tasty, with some nutmeg on top.

I went through a drink mixing phase not to long ago…

I classified new drinks by the reaction they got:

  1. Drinks liked requested by people at future times without any prompting. “Can I have that x drink please!”

  2. Drinks liked but people will only request once they hear it again “X drink you say? I liked that one…give me one of those”

  3. Drinks liked but seldom requested again

  4. Drinks people don’t even finish

Few drinks made #1. They are:

Chambord Margarita: equal parts Chambord and tequila with 3 parts mix and some lime and 1/3 part Triple sec.

Run, Skip and go Naked: Simply beer with 2 shots of Gin in it. Doesn’t sound like a winner but, man, people loved it. Especially women.

Crap, can’t remember what the third is… :frowning:
A drink that some REALLY liked but many didn’t (usually the younger, the more you liked it) was the Vampire: equal parts chambord, vodka and cranberry juice. Make it and you’ll see why it has that name

Just a variant, really, but Captain Morgan and Vanilla Coke are a yummy combination.
