During my stay in New Orleans over the Memorial Day weekend, I noticed the strangest thing. My hotel was on Canal St, and on practically every other corner (on Canal St and the small adjoining streets) would be one or two young black men standing. All of the men/boys (some of them appeared to be in their early teens) were dressed in dark blue jeans and enormous white t-shirts that jund down to their knees. Often, I would see groups of three or more walking together. My first thought was that this was some sort of gang. However, I can’t quite figure out which one it is. The city I live in is home to the “Bluds,” and I’ve seen “Crips” in other cities, but these guys in New Orleans don’t fit the description of any gang I’m familiar with. If any New Orleans (or otherwise) dopers have any info on this, it would be much appreciated.
