New performance enhancing drug?

I’ve been watching/researching Strongman competition and, I’ve noticed, in the last year or so all the top competitors have started to cut weight “for long term health”, Big Z, Ed Hall, Terry Hollands, Brian Shaw, etc.

Maybe I’m just a cynic, but I find it a little suspicious that all the top guys would all change the same direction at the same time so I’m inclined to believe that something has changed: Either what they were taking before made them fat and they’ve stopped taking it for some reason (research showing something bad?) or something better has come along.

I’m not keyed in to the PED world and not inclined to become so but, still, curious to know what the backstory might be, if there is one. Anyone know? Any guesses?

It’s just a guess on my part, but I’d suspect that they’ve discovered the benefits of intermittent fasting and training in a fasted state.

It’s a good bet that whatever technique(s) these guys are using, it doesn’t involve eating normally but consuming smaller portions.
