My wife got a new phone last week - LG V60 ThinQ 5G, running Android 10. We got it all set up and got everything transferred over from her old phone. When she goes in to Words With Friends, she just sees a spinning tile that says “Loading” but her games never load. In fact, no matter which tab you go to - Games, Events, Store - it says Loading. The only tab that is working is her Friends tab.
I tried having her start a new game with me from the Friends tab, but nothing happened. We’ve tried multiple times to force stop, uninstall/reinstall, restart the phone, but nothing works. At one point when I was messing around with it I managed to get “Lightning Round” to show up in Events, but couldn’t get a Lightning Round game to start either. And then later it disappeared and I was never able to get it to come back.
I checked Zynga support, but their solution to every problem appears to be to try a Force Stop, or restart the phone. So, not much help there.
About the only thing I can figure is maybe the game is not compatible with Android 10? Her old phone is Android 9, as is mine. I’ve tried googling for Android 10 compatibility issues but haven’t found anything.
I’ve had the WWF app on my iPhone for maybe six months. I updated the app last week, while updating a bunch of apps, and I can’t get anything to load on it since the update, either. I think that Zynga broke something. I’ve restarted the phone, it didn’t do anything to help.
Thanks kenobi. I didn’t consider the possibility that Zynga broke it, which actually makes more sense considering all the crap they keep adding to the game. I’ll compare version numbers between phones and see if the new phone has a different/newer version of the app.
Mine was doing that last week. I haven’t checked since then, but it would let me do a few things, but not actually make a move or see if I had any moves. I haven’t updated mine lately so I’m thinking something is screwy with the server.
Bumping with some additional info and a question. Yesterday we were messing around with this some more trying to get it to work. No luck, but one thing I noticed is that if you were on the Games tab, with the “loading” message, and then went to the Friends tab (the only tab that is working) you could very briefly see the game board before it was replaced with the Friends tab. So the game board is definitely there but the loading screen just won’t go away.
My question is, if I put my wife’s phone into Android developer mode, is there any function in there that might help me see what’s going on?
By the way my wife has tried to email Zynga support but so far all she’s gotten is a reply that she didn’t send her question to the correct mailbox. You’d think they could just forward it to where it’s supposed to go… :mad:
Well… it’s fixed. Apparently it was a known issue with some newer phones (both Android and Apple). Zynga sent my wife an email with a link to the latest update. She uninstalled and reinstalled and now it’s working. Yay!
