At any rate, I do normally enjoy Weirddave’s presence, but I wish he hadn’t succumbed to Clothahump and RedFury’s partisan wankfest. (Though as usual, it seems Clothahump is too much of a coward to try to come back and justify his views.) The spooge of political idiocy is flying at us from right and left, and Weirddave would do better to maintain his usual decorum and step out of the crossfire.

You are undoubtedly correct. I just find it hard to fathom people like Red Fury. He thinks a personal blog is an unbiased source of news. Shall I counter with quotes from blogs that are biased the other direction and call it anything other than one man’s opinion? He asks me a question about living in Baghdad, and then sneers that my answer is not true but rather is something I’m saying for ideological reasons. I gave my opinion on dictatorships, and his response is a list of dictators who have enjoyed support from the U.S., many of them back in the bad old days of the cold war. There is no attempt to recognize that just because the U.S. supported a dictator in that political climate that it may or may not do so today, even more basic, there is no attempt to ascertain weather or not I think that supporting those dictators was good policy or not, it’s “Here are dictators that the U.S. has supported, you’re a lying fuck”. It’s a total non-sequitor. It makes no sense.
You and I don’t agree on the war, but I respect the fact that you’ve taken the time and effort to inform yourself and consider the issue, which is more than can be said for RedFury. You don’t want to get his oozings on you.

I thought about pointing out the many ridiculous lies you told about me in your post, but I think this bit right here captures your attitude so well that really, there’s no longer any point in saying anything insulting about you.
I’m curious how long RedFury’s attempt to cement this hijack into a bash-Bush thread will continue. It really shows the respect he has and acknowledgement of the power Bush has as such a strong leader.
Of course, this will earn an insult or two from Red and Hentor. Both claiming it’s wrong to disagree with anyone not parroting their shrill whining. But I’d have to respect the opinion maker before letting some childish comment get to me.
As far as rjung is concerned, I don’t think we agree on a single political point. I can’t really nail him on his hijack attemps, as I’m guilty of the same. Or maybe I haven’t seen enough of them, not sure. In any case, even if I disagree with him, it’s usually kind of entertaining and he doesn’t start insulting insults toward me until at least the second post. For that, I have to respect his restraint and occasional reasonableness. Unlike 2 other Dopers that just jump in with the first insult they can think of.
