New sex partner thought experiment

This is a thought experiment I posed to my wife and some of our friends a while back. I thought it might be interesting to pose here and see what people had to say.

Here is the deal:

There are two people, let’s call them Person A and Person B.

Person A is someone you have had sex with before.

Person B is someone you’ve never had sex with, but would like to have sex with.

Through some sort of weird phenomenon or technology, the mind and personality of each person is switched so that Person A’s body has Person B’s mind and vice versa (like in the last episode of “Star Trek” or the movie “Freaky Friday” and its many knockoffs).

Now, you are given the opportunity to have sex with one of them and only one of them. This switch will last 48 hours and in that time you are free to have sex with that one person. However, once things are back to normal, you will never have the chance to have sex with Person B ever.

Which do you choose? Do you choose the body with the new mind or the mind in the new body?

I won’t tell you how my wife and friends chose.

How would you choose?

Did we enjoy sex with Person A?

Hmm… I think it serves mostly as a “someone you’ve already had experience with” type of thing whether you enjoyed it or not, but let’s just say you enjoyed it. Or just pick any person you’ve ever enjoyed having sex with as your “Person A” for the thought experiment.

Ah, the Buffy/Faith conundrum (Faith switched bodies with Buffy and then had sex, in Buffy’s body, with Buffy’s boyfriend, Riley. Riley seemed to maybe sorta know something was up, but he did it anyway. Buffy was not of the pleased later on when she got her body back.)

If I was in a monogamous relationship with Person A, I’d not have sex with either one for those 48 hours. It would just have too good a chance of pissing both of them off later.

If I wasn’t in a monogamous relationship with Person A, I wouldn’t have a go with Body B without taking to Personality B about it first. It’d be too much like rape - after all, it would still be his body, he should be able to consent to me seeing/touching it naked, even if he wasn’t in it at the time. Personality A, of course, would have to consent as well, as he’d be wearing the body I’d like to touch/see at the time.

So yeah, if everyone was on board, I’d try the fresh meat. If either one seemed weired out, no way I’m touching that.

Went out with a guy who was a good ten years older than me. Looked like 25 years older. Looked liked Santa Clause.

But he was funny and smart and had a very dirty mind. I’d do him first. (We didn’t because he got distracted but his father dying. Proving he was funny smart dirty minded and basically decent.)

On the other hand there was this other guy who was beautiful. Tall, blond, well hung. And insipid. He spent the night and by the next morning I was ready to push him out of the bed. Or out the window.

I go with the mind. I’d go wherever it goes.

My boyfriends mind in the body of someone I totally lust after…I’d hit that in a heartbeat. The mind that knows all the things I like and loves doing them in a (temporary) new body that I want to get my hands on. Yep, I’d totally go for it.

<one male perspective>

I have to go with person A with mind B. Bodies aren’t that big a deal, but sex is very different with different people. If this is someone you’ve always lusted for, after its all over you know and they know what went down…body is irrelevant. Though I seriously doubt you would ever find a female Person A what would let this go when things got sorted out again…still, it’d be worth it.

Me, too!

And they used this same plotline in PvP when Brent and Skull switched bodies. Truly, the classic themes of literature are used over and over.

As a non-Buffy watcher, I was unaware of the plotline and I hope you will believe me when I tell you I came up with this question independently. I mainly used it to find out what was more important to my friends: attraction to a personality or to a body. And in my scenario, everyone was okay with it, basically it comes down to if everyone were okay with it, what would matter to you more, the personality or the body?

Again, I will await more responses until I go into detail as to what my friends said (and what I would do).

I would take the new mind in the familiar body. I’m a firm believer in that old saw about sexual enjoyment being largely a mental exercise. I’d be quite curious to see what a fresh perspective would bring to the body I already know intimately.

Oh, I believe you. As Little Nemo says, there are no new plots. (Though I’m not sure what PvP is. I’m sure I’ll :smack: myself as soon as it’s spelled out.)
