New Singer Sewing machine Doesn't work?

Hey we just picked up a Singer Curvy 8770 and there is a strange issue. Whenever the needle reaches the highest position, the machine beeps and locks up. The LCD doesn’t display any error message and it can only be cleared by lowering the needle and turning it off and back on. Just throwing it out there to you guys to see if anyone might know what’s up. It’s too late to call them, and the only other person asking the same question online has not gotten an answer either.

I don’t know, but I’d return it. I bought a new singer sewing machine last year, and the thing was nothing but trouble. (Replaced it with a Jenome.) I’ll never buy a singer again.

We’ve had great luck with singers in the past, and this one comes highly rated. I suspect it is faulty. No point in doing that until I call up tomorrow morning.

I don’t have a Singer but this is from the manual

I assume you checked these items, but just in case…

I also was steered away from the Singers when I bought a new machine. Something about the company was sold or relocated a few years ago and the recent machines are not what they used to be and used cheap plastic parts. Sorry I can’t remember any more after 4 years. I bought a Juki HZL-e61 and I’ve been very happy with it. Did you buy from a sewing machine store or a fabric shop? I bought from this place (the brick and mortar store, not on-line) and they spent a couple of hours with me trying everything in the store. Of course, that only helps if you’re in SoCal.

Have Patrick Stewart take it in for repairs. They’ll definitely fix it if he commands, “Make it sew!!”

Yep tried all that and then some.

We bought from a fabric shop, we can return or exchange if necessary. Our local places are run by shady Israeli vacum cleaner salesman. I’d rather deal with corporate culture than THAT nonsense.

Sorry that I don’t have more suggestions. Good luck.

Update: Machine board was faulty. We exchanged it for a new one that works perfectly! THanks for all the help
