New Stephen King (as co-writer) book announced - NOT Dark Tower

From an e-mail I received today (only a partial quote):

I’m not even close to a baseball “fan,” but I do believe I’ll be picking this one up anyway. One of my all-time favorite King stories is the excellent non-fiction piece “Head Down,” in which he chronicles the season of a Little League baseball season. If this new book is anything like that story, it promises to be good.

I wonder if he’ll find a way to work a Dark Tower reference into this new one after all… grin

It’ll be interesting to see how O’Nan and King work together. I’ve read a lot of O’Nan, and liked it. King too. They might be a better team than King and Straub, even.

I think O’Nan is an unfortunate name for King’s latest co-author to have, when so many (former) fans and critics have called his recent work “self-gratifying” and other more colorful synonyms.

Now that’s an interesting combination. I’ve only read O’Nan’s Prayer for the Dying, but his style seemed so spare as to be almost nonexistent… whereas King’s voice can be very loud. The two of them could produce a nice mix.

And I’ll admit the whole Red Sox curse thing has begun to intrigue me.
