Hey, last summer while pontooning I had a bee somehow get into my bottle of beer. When I took a swig I immediately knew something was off and spit out the mouthful of beer, including the bee.
I wasn’t stung, and the bee survived. He sat a minute, drying, then flew off.
That style first hit the States in 2013, and was around internationally since 2010. But they haven’t caught on much. If I have to drink from a can, I’ll take this over a regular can, but I usually pour my beer into a glass. And having to do something with the top could be annoying at times.
There’s also this tool that removes the top from any can.
This is a big problem with yellow jackets around here in late summer-- they’re trying to stock up on food to overwinter and they get very in your face if you’re eating or drinking anything outside. You really have to keep a close eye on any beverage-- especially in a can where you can’t easily see inside. I seem to have a memory of taking a drink, getting one in my mouth, and immediately spitting it out without getting stung as well. I wonder what would happen if you accidentally swallowed it-- would it sting the inside of your stomach before the stomach acid got to it?
Agreed, cool. Now, if I only liked beer…Champagne would be fun canned like that, I never can finish a bottle and so I go without. Better none than flat bubbly.
Yeah, didn’t we get away from the pull-tops that came off because they were all over the streets? In fact, we all agreed that’s it’s better to dip whatever gunk is on the top of the can into your drink than to have pop tops all over the ground.
