New Superbowl ads

This year the crop was okay. The big winner to us were the sloths for Bud Light. My wife cracked up over the sloth grocery cashier. The Stich ad was cute, and the Harrison F–d :grinning: commercial was really well done.

Your thoughts?

It seemed to me like a contest to see who could make the creepiest ad. Eugene Levy’s eyebrows coming off his face and flying around, another one with people’s mustaches coming off and flying around, the seal with a Seal head, the kid with a cowboy hat shaped head… seems like there was another one I’m forgetting… Maybe try to use a little less CGI in your ads, people!

Yeah, we said “well, that’s not creepy” too many times.

I’ve noticed in recent years that Super Bowl ads tend to fall into two (non-mutually exclusive) categories:

1. Celebrities! CELEBRITIES! You like famous people, right? Here they are!
2. Establishment of premise, rapid-fire montage of examples.

Now that you mention it, there’s also been a general trend of ads being gross/otherwise unsettling. Like that whole M&Ms clam-flavor thing with Maya Rudolph (a celebrity!). And the Tubi rabbits.

Yeah. That is weird.

The Coffee Mate one with the oversized tongue. That was the only one that really creeped me out. I’m now refusing to buy Coffee Mate products because of that ad.
