I’ll probably try it, but I don’t care for the idea of just randomly killing civilians. But if the gameplay turns out to be fun (which doesn’t look like it’s the case) I’ll play it.
I had enough trouble doing the airport scene in Modern Warfare 2. I’m not touching this one.
I watched the trailer, and I was saying: “That’s not so violent…that’s not too bad…HOLY SHIT! That was a graphic headshot!”
I wouldn’t call it more violent than other games, but more graphic in it’s depiction of the violence.
I shot over everyone’s heads trying to heard them away, and got in front of the AI guys as much as possible.
Also tried shooting the bad guys, but that was an insta fail state.
The issue people are having with it isn’t so much the graphic depiction of violence, but the fact that the player character is murdering innocent people.
Is the game any good? I’m happy to get incredibly violent in GTA, but the gameplay is good. “Most violent” is neither a selling point nor something to avoid.
I think it’s a bit more than that. I can go spree killing in Skyrim. Complete with rather gruesome synced kill animations on random peasants.
The difference in this game is partially that citizens react in horror and fear. But big deal, right? Deus Ex: HR does that too!
But then, it’s the point of this game. If you do it in Deus Ex or Skyrim there are (however laughable) repercussions, and it tries to make you feel bad. This game just revels in it, and only exists for you to go around doing that. Then again, I don’t recall MadWorld being slammed for roughly the same (granted there are actual enemies in MadWorld), but then, that was a low profile Wii game.
My friend (who lives in Portugal) thinks it looks boring. I agree. I play RPGs because I can choose a character and then choose how to play that character in the game world. This game already chooses that you are a stone killer, it seems. Not much fun for me.
I think the theme of the game is lame, but the actualy gameplay doesn’t look bad. I like those isometric top down smash-tv style shooters. I get sucked into them for some reason.
Made by Columbine Killer worshippers? Seriously, if there was a game that deserved the title “Murder Simulator”, this would be it.
Watched the Trailer. I would hope that it’s not representative of the game as a whole, but there’s no evidence to the contrary. This does not look like something I’d be interested in. It looks like your only goal is to go on a murder spree and kill defenseless people in the most gruesome ways possible. If that’s really all you do is kill innocent people and it’s not just someone free-roaming and ignoring the game proper, then nope, not interested.
I predict that this game will be heavily criticized by the media for glorifying violence and by most gamers for being a shitty, shallow game lacking content or decent graphics.
And I’ve played all the Grand Theft Auto and most of the Saints Row games. I did not like Postal though, and had the same feelings about it as I do this game.
Fun additional fact : the game’s designers are honest to goodness neo-nazis IRL. So there’s that :).
Random Internet comment I liked about this game : “This looks like a game made up by Law & Order to show how video games make people violent”
Anyway, not on my wishlist, no.
