New virus coming out - W32/Badtrans - is irritating me

I have a Macintosh, so I feel (relatively) protected from viruses. But it doesn’t stop the damned emails from coming. Lately (like the last 3 or 4 days) I get these emails from people I don’t know, with some sort of attachment, but nothing in the email. The subject says “Re:”, and all I see in the email body is (what looks like) a blank little box. Like something wanted to show up there, but Outlook Express didn’t know how to display the attachment. I opened up “all headers”, and found a huge string of nonsensical text, but buried in there was the phrase “Sorry about yesterday”, which makes me think that indeed, it was a virus. (Since “sorry_about_yesterday” was one of the phrases mentioned in the McAfee page.)

Anyone else getting this? What does it look like on a PC? I don’t feel like opening up any mail on my PC now, because who needs the grief? It’s weird how all of a sudden I am getting all these emails.

It’s the first worm or virus I’ve ever had! Bet not many folks can claim that. (guess I are somebody now) Fortunately Norton caught it.

My e-mail came from an out of town client that I spoke to earlier this evening. I hope they weren’t trying to send anything important.

I got this the other night. The sender was a “mperky”, someone I’ve never heard of (and it was to my super-secret real home email addy, so odds are it wasn’t this place or other hangouts).

I’ve got Norton AV running, so when Outlook downloads a message it actually downloads it to Norton for a scan. Norton picked it up and warned me about it, then disinfected it (My AV defs are current, I do love the AutoUpdate). Needless to say I didn’t even bother opeing it, into the trash can it went.

I’m a Mac user, forced at knifepoint (well it feels like that anyway) to use Windows Meee on a Peee Ceee at work.

I’ve managed to be infected by two worms, and they’re such a pain. Actually I sort of guessed they were viruses before I tried to open them, but half of me didn’t care, because it’s just a stupid Windows computer. I managed to clean them out, but it was hard.

The thought of anything like that trying to infect my precious pristine ibook - shudder - it may be the only advantage to staying at 4% market share but it’s a significant one.

God, that virus is a pain. I just got done blocking it from our pc’s at work. I had 110 messages since yesterday–two thirds were from the Badtrans virus. Annoying.
