New Wii = SORE! And, need tennis tip

I finally got a Wii! I’m struggling with tendonitis in my foot and have had to give up running and biking until my ortho plorts our our next move; I’ve gotten fat and lazy and can’t stick with a boooooooring calisthenics routine.

So last night I put on my hoof wrap, put down my soft exercise mat and went to town: Tennis! Golf! Baseball! Bowling! I played for four hours . . . and now I have awoken feeling as if I played four hours of tennis, golf, baseball, and bowling: yowchy muscles! But a good feeling.

For fellow Wii’ers: I keep slicing the ball out of the tennis court boundaries. I bought a racket attachment to make it feel more as if I’m playing, but can’t get the right stroke. Any suggestions?

I don’t know about the racket attachment…I’ve never used it. But in my experience with Wii Tennis, its all about the timing of hitting the ball.

For instance, if you’re returning a serve and you’re character is at the bottom part of the court, hitting the ball slightly early makes the ball go left, later makes it go more to the right.

Does the sensor placement make any diff? Mine’s on top of my TV, wich puts it at about 4’ position.

No. Unless you put it somewhere crazy far away or something. Where you have it is fine. That’s exactly where mine is.

Yeah, make absolutely certain the attachment can’t come off and fly into the TV.

Yep. This. The only problem I have is I can’t quite get the move to ace the serve. That is to say sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t, but I don’t know what to do to ensure it happens when I want, rather than it being a pleasant surprise.

The trick is to hit the ball at its peak in the air. When you do that, you’ll get the “smoke serve” every time.
