Wait, are these those mounts that you can only use in AQ? Do they count toward the 100-mount achievement?
Also I suppose the MC is non-dispellable and untrinketable. But we both have bubbles and self-heals so we might be able to do it.

Yes, they do. All four of them. I managed to get 3 of the 4 in one (non-solo) AQ40 run, and it helped immeasurably getting to 100/100.
Oh, not immeasurably. Quite measurably. 3% of the total, in fact.
I don’t think I’m up to soloing raid bosses, even old-skool ones. Especially MC’ers. I hate getting MC’d and shooting my gorilla. (Yeah, hunters never really solo, do they?)
Cuz most items, if they do sell on the AH, get me more gold than I’d get for the Greater Cosmic Essence or handful of Infinite Dusts I get from DEing the stuff. If I find a piece of gear with stats appropriate to that particular gear type, I may try to sell it on the AH, especially if I can potentially get 20g+ for it. But finding caster stats on fist weapons or 2H axes, or melee stats on wands or cloth robes … those things may as well just be labeled, “I’m useless. Just vendor or disenchant me!”
LOL.
You know, asides from the really bad rap that mount has because it’s so proletarian and common and only posers would pay real money for a mount… it’s actually a damn spiffy mount. The first one I saw actually made me think they’d added some kind of uber hard-mode Algalon achievement with a sparkle pony reward.
The second, third, fourth, 39th, etc. I saw in the next 20 seconds dispelled that notion pretty fast.
But my four-year-old son still likes seeing my characters flying along on their “shiney forsey”.
Re; My previous question: I may have been unclear about what I was asking. Some of those candy buckets actually give you an XP point when you open them. I was just wondering if they do that at every inn I visit and if they only do it once.
Thanks
Q
Same here. I was in Stormwind the day that it went out, and I saw some guy standing on it by the fountain. My immediate response was, “OMG, I don’t care how hard it is to get that thing, I’m going to get it!”
Then I told my friend to come look at it. He responded with “Oh, you can buy that for $25.”
So I bought the hell out of it. I just wish that the animations were better. It seemed like they used to be really good at first, but got changed. That could just be some of the shine wearing off the sparkle pony, though.
In other news, I did my first raid since the patch dropped last night. It was a 25 man, with three other warlocks (two with gear comparable to my own, and one with better gear). I topped out the 'locks for DPS, and one of them actually asked what my glyphs and rotation were. And I was like, Jesus, I remember when I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of the Night Elf Mohawk.
It gave me a happy. However, my abysmal loot luck in 25-mans continues. The last five runs, I haven’t won a single roll. And it’s not for lack of loot! Things drop, and I roll a 2. Of course, as a lock, I have to roll against what feels like half the damn raid. I have a friend who plays a boomkin, and she ends up with piece after piece, since no other classes need on spell leather. Maddening!
Every inn gives you XP when you do the candy bucket. Why yes, I have been milking that on my lowbie alts!
Heh yeah I know the mount has a bad rep. But I actually received it as a gift! Which I point out anytime somebody makes fun of me for riding it.
Plus it’s really nice to be able to reroll on a new server (where I have no gold) and not have to purchase a mount unless I prefer the graphic.
Yeah, each candy bucket at an inn gives experience the first time you do it at that inn per year. After that, you can’t interact with it, and it doesn’t show a quest any more, so no more candy for you from that bucket at that inn. Go to the next inn on your Hallow’s End pilgrimage!
Geez, how did I never notice the Abyssal Bag pattern before? My pally visited the Ebon Blade Quartermaster to pick up the helm enchant for her new T10 helm, and there was the pattern sitting there. 22-slot bag, slightly cheaper to make than the Glacial Bag from the Sons of Hodir. (4 Ebonweave & 2 Spellweave for the AB, vs. 4 Ebonweave & 4 Moonshroud for the GB). I thought maybe it was added in a more recent patch, but Wowhead says it’s been there since 3.0.2.
IIRC, the Abyssal Bag was a soul bag before 4.0 dropped. They might’ve made it into a regular one since soul bags are no longer necessary.
Yeah, used to be a 32-slot soul bag. I knew they were going to convert to a “comparable” size, but wasn’t sure if that was going to be 22 or 20. Nice to know Blizzard gave the warlocks a break. (Aaargh hopefully tonight I’ll get my new computer set up and the client started downloading. Soon. Soon.)
That explains it. Now that I think about it, I believe I already knew the pattern for the soul bag. Kinda sucks that I had to repurchase the new pattern though, instead of the one I already knew getting converted. At least I don’t think it was converted - the pattern didn’t say “Already Known”.
Oh sweet, and the Abyssal Bag doesn’t come with the Glacial Bag’s 6 day, 20 hour cooldown!
Gotta say, that new T10 helm looks a lot better with my paladin’s gear than that old T9-style helm did.
Okay, what does one do with all the GNERDS and other gifts than use it on oneself?
Sorry, guess I should remember or maybe y’all could give me a link which explains what all can be done with this promotion? Some of it is self-explanatory, yes, but what about the bobbing for apples thing? I see the little ratchet as I approach, click on it, but it says “opening”, but I don’t know for what?
Also, while making the rounds of all the inns, I noticed that HP (the dark portal) now has a small instance-looking thing to Stormwind.
Thanks
Q
There’s a pvp achievement for getting 50 kills while under the GNERDS buff. There’s another for puking after eating two of the candies that drop from the HH instance,
Otherwise, I think they’re just holiday food with minor stat buffs, and will disappear when the event ends.
Got the last level of Northrend Gourmet tonight, and started gathering up all the Outland recipes to get Outland Gourmet. I still need two that come in the barrel of fish from the daily, though.
I’m having a hell of a time with my game disconnecting while I’m on a taxi flight when I alt+tab to the desktop. It seems like I come back to the game every time disconnected.
I know that I already know the Abyssal Bag pattern. I’ll be bummed if I have to buy it again.
Happening to me too.
Q
No, that will be patch 4.0.3…
Seriously, there have been radical changes before. How long have you been playing? Really, I’ve seen dramatic changes before. There is always a certain amount of QQing, some people threaten to quit (and some probably do so), and in two months everyone will wonder what the fuss was all about.
