If it makes you feel any better, I ran regular UK on my level 71 Druid the other night specifically in order to do those quests, and I did the exact same thing. I dropped out of the party after loot distribution just like any heroic, and I forgot to grab Ingvar’s head.
Are you going to make it tonight? The extra CC will be helpful, it looks like.
Should be.
New thread…new status update of my alts:
- little used 75 Ally hunter on non-Cairne server (why would I make it so hard on myself?!)
- Moobird is a 61 Druid. Leveling Balance, but I will ask some questions about him below.
- Still sitting on the Priest Shaman Warlock and Warrior (mid-60s except for the Shaman)
- Non-alts (ie-80s) RB, LB, Goodmoon - an ally on Cairne, although I’m not sure if the dope-guild is still active, I switched a while back, and forgot to check back in. Anyone know? Anyone remember the name? Anyone know where the keys are? Gearing her up with BGs, and I feel really bad when I kill a BDLer. Sorry Laradon - Rasz - and a few others. I usually wave after killing you if that makes you feel better. (doubt it:) )
So I’m floundering on what to do next. Easy question: Should I dual my druid as Balance/Tank or Balance/Heals? I need to get into groups faster and not sure which will be more fun. As fun as DPS? Neither. I guess I can learn healing, and there’s the bonus of keeping my +20% xp caster BOA gear on.
Or do I find a raid-guild with RB? I’d love to stay in BDL, and I certainly don’t have gear to jump straight into some of the bigger Raids, but maybe I can find a smaller guild to go from Ony10 to ICC25 with.
Speaking of Moobird leveling as Balance: Not sure why or how, but everytime I get into a Random Dungeon, I get cries of “OMG A CHICKEN. YESSS!!!111!”
I’m still only doing middling dps so I’m not sure what the joy is about. Should I be leading dpsers? I think my rotation is good, but too many Hurricanes kill my mana fast.
I need to get my first Idol soon. Anyone know where the first Idols show up? Lastly, not for nothing but, Flight-Form kicks ass!

Great thank you I’m at 22k mana (without BoK) but still BoK obviously better. Now I am being put in the harder heroics I am using Divine Plea a lot more, mp5 not enough.
It made sense pre Illumination nerf I guess (for non pallies this talent gives you a % of mana back from a spell crit).
Yep. Use Divine Plea whenever possible: typically immediately after a fight or during a fight when the tank isn’t taking much damage. I have a basic Divine Plea button and a Super Divine Plea, which also activates my +599 SP trinket and Avenging Wrath at the same time as DP, which lets me keep healing at about 75-80% effectiveness rather than 50%. If/when I get two pieces of T10 gear, I’ll be working Divine Illumination into that more often too, since 2p10 raises your healing by an extra 35% when Divine Illumination is running.
Dunno about Idols, but I got my first Pally Libram in BRD, so I’d guess they drop somewhere in the level 50-ish instances.
I’m getting really sick of Blizzard’s whole ‘we don’t know how to divide the territories except with GIANT MOUNTAINS EVERYWHERE’ thing. I’ve played around in Outlands and flying mounts take care of that issue, but seriously, in vanilla it frustrates the crap out of me. I’m not a master of the vanilla map yet, so I still go by ‘I need to get here, so I need to go through these territories’. Needed to get to Azshara as Alliance, so took boat to Auberdine. Thought I could cross through Moonglade and Winterspring.
And now the peanut gallery will moan as they realize I ended up swimming around the Veiled Sea and the Great Sea. DO THE MOUNTAINS EVER ENDDDDD
There has to be a better way. I personally prefer to walk into a new territory, see enemies with the skull icon and run back like a mofo.
Also, I forgot my hunter doesn’t have my rogue’s awesome ability to fall from anything and live. I killed myself so many times last night, lol.
Does every class’s special quests involve killing Morphaz? I don’t have anyone on my server to go with, and I don’t think the Dungeon Finder will match me up with anyone seeing as I’m overleveled, but not enough that I can solo it.
Every class’s level 50 quest involves SOMETHING in Sunken Temple; what it is varies.
Hah! I originally picked those up as an upgrade for my tanking set, until I could get a better pair of tank pants and swap them to my DPS set.
If you didn’t know, you can actually swap specialties at any point after completing your first one, for a minimal fee. (I think something like 100g or 200g.) Depending how far you are, you might just want to do the xmute specialty quest (which is just to turn in a few Primal Might, which IIRC are dirt-cheap these days), then pay to respec yourself to Elixir.
The Rogue should be finding traps and disarming or marking them… Not *triggering *them. :smack:
Eh, it’s one thing to know intellectually what a fight is going to entail. It’s another thing to actually be in the middle of that mess, trying to keep track of a billion things at once in realtime. If you have questions about any of the encounters, just holler–though Cap will obviously be able to speak more to the healing aspects than I could.
Probably. But we all have our HOW DO I SHOT WEB moments now and again.
Tanking will definitely get you the fastest queues. My healer is mid-50s, and he can sit on his ass forever waiting for a group to pop.
Boomkins have a group-wide crit buff, IIRC. (Not sure what level you get that Talent, though.) When people are excited to see a specific class, it’s usually because of the buffs they bring for everyone else.
Moonglade is almost completely walled off. There are three ways in or out:
1.) Tunnels that are controlled by a faction of Furlborg. You can corpse-run through if you’re not high enough level to grind their rep.
2.) Be a Druid. You get a free Moonglade teleport at… level 10 or so.
3.) Be online during the Lunar Festival. Everyone gets free Moonglade ports, which makes it a great time to pick up the FP.
Honestly, that’s just how the world is. Many zones only have single connecting points to other ones. Why didn’t you just run Darkshore -> Ashenvale -> Azshara? Next time, if you’re not sure what zones connect… just ask someone.
Frickin’, frackin’, rassin’, frassin’ Sunken Temple…
The single most convoluted, multistep, confusing, LOOOONG, stupid, frustrating old world dungeon. Whoever designed ST spends their weekends whipping and verbally abusing half-naked people in leather underwear for money, I’ll make a bet on it…
Even after Cataclysm and flight is allowed, I expect there will still be choke points between zones. Lowbies can’t fly, and the choke points allow for a natural progression. Teldrassil leads to Darkshore leads to Ashenvale, and by then you should know enough about the game that you’re not going to stumble around into zones you shouldn’t be in. The Undead zones are a notorious example of what happens when this isn’t followed: Tirisfal Glades (1-10) links to Western Plaguelands (50-55) and many an unsuspecting lowbie has had a run-in with a Welcome Bear. If zone links were more open and non-linear, new players would have a difficult time figuring out how to progress and would get demoralized.
My personal major source of falling death’s has been none other than Alexstrasza the Lifebinder. At least twice my doing the Mage thing of exploring Northrend by jumping off very tall objects ™ has been bought to a tragic end by drifting too close to the Wrathgate and her anti-spellcasting aura, apparently both slowfall and iceblock count as hostile spells
OTOH, my healer pretty much had insta-queues once he hit Outland. Now that I’m in Nothrend they’ve shot up again to 5-10 min.
You can also swim around north from Darkshore along the coast until your map changes to Moonglade, then drown yourself and rez at the Spirit Healer at the Moonglade cemetary. I did that on one of my toons. Then you can pick up the FP and you’re all set.
I disagree. It’s a bit crazy to learn, but it follows a pattern once you start getting used to it. I’d rather run ST than a lot of the other old-world instances (WC and Mara, I’m looking at you.)
Guessing you tried this, but if it didn’t fall under her silence, Blink also works, assuming you hit it at a safe falling distance above the ground.
:smack: Can’t believe I forgot about that trick. That’s how I’ve parked a couple of dress farmers in Moonglade. Definitely faster than a corpse run up through Felwood and the tunnel for a lowbie.
Didn’t actually try it at the time given that unexpected terminal velocity only allows a certain amount of time for flailing at buttons and swearing, but no, blink doesn’t work either.
To add insult to injury this manoeuvre is very likely to land your corpse on an unreachable ledge or in the middle of an opposing faction base packed with elites.
I mean, for anyone who plays with others or has played countless toons over the years, this makes sense. I don’t have anyone with me on this server yet - my peeps are renewing their subscriptions in August - so stuff like this isn’t obvious to me. And if I asked in the General channel…well, usually people in your party are nicer to you because they need you and I get ignored if I ask where the instance entrance is. If I asked in General I’d probably get snarked at.
See, I really liked starting out as a Night Elf. You started in Darnassus, went to Auberdine, headed south as you leveled up, and there were no barriers other than ‘ho shit, that guy is 10 levels higher than me, I guess I shouldn’t be here yet!’. I found once I hit 30 or so, suddenly every place to level was some place I had never even heard of and was halfway across the map. The transition from wherever you were to Feralas/Tanaris/etc. was really hard because there was nothing pushing you there.
