Azuremyst to Bloodmyst?
Tried to swim it, but died. I don’t have a flightpath there yet, and I can’t seem to find the correct boat.
I did a search, but all I found was Auberdine to Azuremyst.
Can anyone suggest another route?
Thanks

No boats go to Auberdine anymore, Quasi. The town’s in ruins and infested with air elementals after the Cataclysm. The new boat goes (I think) directly to Rut’theran Village under Teldrassil, and there’s a flight point to the new Night Elf town of Lor’danel.
ETA: Wait…Bloodmyst? That’s right northwest of Azuremyst…there’s a bridge between them.
I take it you’re on Azuremyst Island, if you start at the docks just follow the road past the Exodar and keep heading north and you will reach a bridge eventually.
It was something they considered doing back when WotLK was under development, naturally it got scrapped when they decided to make mounts learnable spells.
Found it, THANKS!
LOTS of questing to be done there.
One was the “Kessel Run” which I did in less than 12 parsecs!
Got on one of those Ellek things and set out only to be thrown off the first time when the quest giver told me, “You’re going the wrong way, Usumbij”.
Thanks

To add to the Skada v Recount/Omen discussion, it’s been found that the two will vary because they use different ways of parsing the combat logs – I don’t recall which is which, but it has to do with different cutoffs for ‘end of combat’. So the dps numbers vary, sometimes significantly. It depends on what you want to use. I’ve tried both, and ended up going with Recount since I’m used to having Omen pop up to notify me that I’m in combat.
SFG – welcome to the Horde side! We have cookies!
Re Auctioneer, that’s the Cadillac and Kitchen Sink of auction addons. I prefer using AuctionLite combined with MarketWatcher, but YMMV.
Oh – I see that neither of us listed unitframe replacements. Those replace the default Blizzard player/party frames and are often resizable/movable to suit your personal taste and needs. I recommend holding off on those until you’re comfortable with the game again, then playing with those a bit to see how you can optimize your personal UI. (Some common ones you’ll hear about are TukUI, XPerl, and Shadowed Unit Frames – I personally use a sUF variant)
Another addon that might be useful is TipTac, which reskins and displays additional player/unit information when available in tooltips. Mine is class colored to display HP/mana and current spec.
Well, Clawdie got bitten tonight, so she’s joined Exi as a Worgen.
She’s picked up some great spells and looks great in her druid outfit.
Nicely shaped body and hair and I’d do her if I weren’t afraid she’d rip out my throat in the heat of passion! ![]()
Q
“Discovery XP” isn’t given with every new place/city one finds.
Is that part of the new expansion?
I have noticed this with ALL my toons - the “younger” ones as well as Wolkie.
I still get the notification that I’ve discovered somewhere, but maybe just every THIRD time I discover some place will I get points for it.
Maybe it’s ALWAYS been that way and I just haven’t noticed?
Thanks
Q
It’s always been that way. Sometimes an area will have sub-areas that you get to “discover” but don’t get xp for. F’rinstance, there are areas in the human starting area, Northshire, like the vineyard and the mine, that have their own “pop-up” when you go through them, but have no xp associated with discovery, since they’re all covered under “Northshire”, which you’ve already discovered.
Arrrgh!
It appears someone has hacked/sold my account.
I let ,y subscription lapse in August. However after a couple of emails from Blizzard about my accounbt being locked, I have had a quick scan of armory, and my toon was gainging equipment and achievements as recently as December.
Is there a number I can call to sort this, or do I have to work through that webform that wants me to send faxes of photo id and a million other things?
That’s weird, OaOW. In order for someone to be playing your character, someone would have to be paying for your account to be active. Have you tried logging in? If the account is still in your name you should be able to reset the password if you need to.
My other thought is, maybe it’s due to the Cataclysm release. A lot of achievements spontaneously changed, so you could have easily lost some and gained some without any activity. It’s also possible that there were game changes to specific pieces of equipment that you owned which would reflect in your Armory profile even if there has been no activity.
I deleted the payment method when cancelling the subscription. I checked the account through battle net (after a password reset) and it has had a series of one month friend referrals to give it play time.
Some of the achi’s gained were boss kills in instances, so i think someone has defo been playing
The account status though is Locked. I think I will need to prove ID to get it back
Man, I can’t wait until we have a full guild raid. It took forever last night to fill our empty slots, especially considering that we use Mumble instead of Vent. The plus side is that it acts as a pretty good moron check–if you can’t figure out how to download, install, and configure a pretty simple program, you probably aren’t going to be able to learn boss mechanics, either.
Only one of us had been in Bastion of Twilight before, and we got a really late start, so we only made it up to a few attempts on the second boss before we had to call it for the night. (Having a couple of people in raid who were very nice but not such hot players wasn’t terribly helpful, either.) It’s definitely a big change from raiding with The Backseat, where everybody was a lot more (for lack of a better term) professional, but I definitely had fun. How can you hate a raid where your voice chat is full of your mom jokes? ![]()
Bingo!
Loot lag!
I think we’ve all had that happen at one point or another. It does look awfully funny, but it’s also really annoying, because while you can move (or at least it looks like you can move), you also can’t use any abilities, because your game still thinks you’re trying to loot.
Right now, you’ll be getting the best XP, skillups, and prices by skinning animals in the new zones. So just skin as you quest–if you run across an area with a lot of skinnable beasts, it might be worth your while to stay and farm a while.
Weird that it’s what shows up as the little snippet under the Google returns.
Oh yeah, the Draenei starting zones are fuuuull of nerdy references and jokes. That’s one of the reasons I think I’m so partial to them.
I actually had first-hand evidence of this last night–on one encounter, there was a 3k difference in what my meters showed for my friend’s DPS and what his Skada showed (16k on mine, 13k on his).
But but but I already *have *Horde toons! I even had a Horde 80 in Wrath, though I haven’t had time to bring her up to 85 yet.
Now my highest Alliance alt is, jeeze, maybe 55.
I’ve just been using Auctioneer so long it’s become ingrained–back when I started, I don’t think there were any other viable options. Given that it’s been on-and-off buggy lately, though, I might move to something lighter-weight.
Yeah, I don’t use them. They’re on my vague agenda for “someday when I completely overhaul my UI,” which also includes bar mods and PowerAuras. Maybe if I get laid off and have lots of time on my hands. ![]()
I can’t get there from work, but if you go to the Customer Service forum on the official WoW forums (or possibly Tech Support… but try CS first), they have one or more stickies with detailed instructions on what to do if your account has been compromised.
Yes, that’s what happens when your account is hacked… they *use *it. Sometimes they just strip it and leave it, but it’s also not uncommon for them to keep using the hacked accounts to do things like phish other accounts or goldfarm.
I filled out the webform and included a scan of my driving license. We will see what happens. I fit comes to it, when I want to try Cata, I may just buy a copy and start afresh… with an authenticator…
I also stepped into my first (non-BH) Cata raid last night - and like you there were a bunch of non-regulars. No bosses killed, sadly. Tried Magmaw but ranged DPS wasn’t good enough at switching to adds and staying out of fire. Tried Halfus next, and would have killed him with a few more attempts (if we beat enrage - it would have been close).
Question on Halfus (assuming you killed him) - did y’all release drakes one at a time while killing the first two? I read a lot of folks that released two drakes at once at the start, but maybe that was a bad combination that required that behavior. Our tanks couldn’t handle the damage (one of them was kinda under-geared though) when two drakes were up. And there is no reason to kill the third drake, right?
I had a weird loot lag on Tol Barad Peninsula a few days ago where I could use all my abilities. So I ran around killing things, even getting quest credit, all from a slouched over position. Only thing I couldn’t do was loot…
Wanderers, you know the only way to be sure is to start playing again with the Burning Doggies!
Ok, I tried to get to nvidia benchmark, but was given an error message…I forgot what it said but something along the lines of “a component is missing”. Didn’t try too hard to work on it last night because I was having too much fun with our SDMB Poker Tournament. So, I was more into Poker than WoW.
Also, on the virus/trojan front. At first I suspected ScoreLoop had emailed something to me that might of had a trojan in it, but I don’t recall going on that site except for signing on my mobile phone for the Jewels App with my computer’s email address instead of my mobile’s email address. I don’t think anything funny could happen that way. So the mystery of the sound bite popups remains just that…a mystery. I can run AVG9.0 (full comp scan) 2 or 3 times to eliminate the popups, but they come back when I restart the computer.
Another thing is that Google Search on Firefox is now useless unless I use safe mode Firefox. Any link that a search produces redirects me to that Fucking TAZINGA! or Scour Search sites…probably related to the sound bite popups, but hell…I don’t know for sure.
I’m about ready for a trip to the local computer repair shop with a laundry list of things to do…
Yeti, have you tried something like this? It has instructions for editing your registry and deleting the .dlls that point to Tazinga and other sites.
Yes, we killed Halfus. We freed the first two drakes right away (well, a few seconds apart so that I could build up a bit of aggro on Slab before popping Nether for me to pick up). With Bloodlust, we burned through Slab really fast, so there wasn’t a huge length of time where I had both drakes on me. Because Slab was up, we had to worry about the MS debuff, but fortunately we had a Paladin healing, so he just BoP’d the tank on Halfus after the first 15-stack, and we traded as needed after that, because by the time he got anywhere near needing to swap again, both drakes were already dead.
Neither I nor the other tank are massively geared. His armor is a touch better than mine right now–I think he has at least two, maybe three or four more epic pieces than I do (rep and BOE combines). I’m in mostly 364 blues, with two epics (rep boots and BS-made shield) and a handful of pieces that are still 333 blues.
Whether or not you release and kill the third drake really depends on which drakes you get and what your raid comp is. If it’s the whelps, for instance, I hear you pretty much want to just burn them down because they go so fast. AFAIK, every drake you kill gives you an additional 50% damage bonus.* So releasing vs. not releasing and killing vs. not killing has to be a balance of (a) whether your DPS needs the extra 50% boost, (b) whether your healers can handle keeping up both tanks through the stuns in ph2, (c) how well your tanks can handle the swaps if needed to deal with a MS effect or CD rotation for the stuns in ph2, etc.
*Which resulted, by the way, in some hilarious numbers for me, especially given that I was in AOE territory for a lot of the fight: one attempt I came close to hitting 20k (and I think I wasn’t even using Cleave for most of that fight, since I’d neglected to swap it back from Heroic Strike after the previous attempt–I think my top damage on that parse was HS > Shield Slam > Revenge).
Thanks, I’ll give it a rip tonight.
Would love to, but I am on the European servers.
