New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

In case anyone, or anyone knows anyone who, is into roleplaying or ‘in love’ in game, the fishing trainer on the canals in Stormwind seems to have a Love Boat that appears every little bit; it looks like any other little boat out there, but you can click and get in it, and it will take you and your sweetie <or whoever; haven’t tested capacity> on a tour around Stormwind. It’s a lovely little float, and I thought it was a neat addition.

Y’all know I’m working with some other class toons, right?

Sometimes that phrase will flash on the screen and I have no idea what they mean.

Appears on my druid and my paladin (IIRC)

Thanks

Q

this appears to have been resolved

For the druid - i assume you’re feral? Some of your attacks build up combo points on your target. These can be seen around the portrait of your target as little red circles. You can get up to 5 on a target. Other attacks only work if you have combo points on a target, and will do more damage for more combo points.

All of 'em tell me there’s no path to them, though, so I guess I’ll need to find an inn for him?

Thanks

Q

all my 10 toons on Aleks and how I’ve been able to level them as quick as I have once I got Da’ Wolk to 80.

Here they all are (just a list after Usum):

“So what?”, right?

Well, here’s what: For the past 3 years, I have had a ball role-playing
Wolkenlaufre, naming his friends, his pets, and even having him fall in love with Heather at the Sentinel Hill Inn.

Sometimes I wrote stories based on Wolkie’s escapades (and I may again, so watch out!), but basically this is about y’all and your infinite patience with me.

I just wanted you to see how quickly I was able to level the other toons based on what you taught me and helped me with!

There are a bunch of you, so I won’t mention you by name, but let this just be a “blanket” *thank you * to you all!

Love ya’!

Quasi/Wolkie/all the Silkas and the other toons you see in the portrait. No way could I/we have done this on our own.

I haven’t played a human or elf in years, those got hit on a lot more and a lot uglier than the gnomettes, dwarves, cows and trolls (the troll mage got one of the “doesn’t grok ‘no’” idiots once); my worgen is a boy. Most of the “hits” I get are from male toons of the same race and along the lines of some /blushing or “oi, 'tis nice to meet a pretty lass!”, but I did learn a new word once, back when BC had been out for about 15 months…

Here I am, in my rogue (dwarf, brunette, ponytail at nape), merrily doing my very-unimpressive best to kill some of those ethereals near B-52, when an undead which apparently is male starts /flirting, /waving, /dancing and /blushing at me. Befuddled and fishing for some sympathy, I ask on gchat “uuuuh… why is there a dead human making kissing gestures at me?” and get the answer “two words: boobies!”

Man, they never teach you those words in ESL class!

Hi Q,

Clawdie has exactly the hair I’d like for my female worgen. It’s the same color, but Alonia has very short-cropped hair. I’m going to take her to the barber the next time it’s convenient, but there doesn’t seem to be one in Darnassus, is that right? I’ll have to wait until I find myself in Stormwind.

Any changes you make to her in human form will indeed affect how she looks in Worgen form, although it’s hard to predict how without trial-and-error unless they’ve added functionality to the barber chair.

And speaking of flirting and guild invites – I play Alonia with another friend of mine who is leveling a male worgen mage with me. This week I was in Darkshire (hardly well populated) and got two guild invites while he got none :). I politely declined both of them but I think in our next play session I’ll ask in /2 if there is a levelling guild who will take us; I think SFG’s advice above about the new guild perks is right. Not only the shorter hearth but also the XP bonus and reduced repair costs are nice while leveling.

It’s also a fast way to reach any other location in northern Kalimdor (so long as you have this other location’s flight point).

Well. There are also… animals. Yeah.

And…um… undead vrykul. A whackin’ lot of them.

And, animals. Oh, I mentioned those.

Crazy dwarves! Oh, but does the Alliance get to kill them? I hope so, otherwise you’re missing out on the fun.

Snobolds? A few. No Horde quests, but good fun just to whack the little twerps.

Scattered clutches of iron dwarves. No Horde quests for those, either. And they keep getting in the way of my mining.

Obnoxious elite walking mountains that can 5-shot any normal at-level player. Good times, good times.

And speaking of obnoxious, there’s this dude. He makes the fel reaver looks fun 'n friendly.

Animals! OH, nvm.

Ah. Not really animals, but very animal-like. The Kaluak. But, you don’t get to kill those. Not as far as I can tell.

Yeah, most of HF is vrykul, more vrykul, and undead vrykul topped with vrykul sauce and served with a side of vrykul.

But it’s a very pretty zone.

There is a barber in Darnassus, actually. It’s over on the side that nobody ever goes to (to the left when you approach the steps from the Teldrassil gate)…Tradesmen’s Terrace, I think?

“We have vrykul, vrykul, vrykul, vrykul, vrykul and vrykul!”
“I don’t like vrykul…what d’you have without it?”
“Well, we have ham, eggs, toast, vrykul…”
“How MUCH vrykul?”
“Doesn’t have much vrykul in it.”
“Well, I DON’T LIKE VRYKUL!”
o/ Vrykul, vrykul, vrykul, vrykul...mighty vrykul! Glorious vrykul! o/

Shut UP! SHUT UP! SHUUUT UPPP!!
(Bloody Vrykul!)

That was disturbingly appropriate.

Don’t blame me. It was your line that triggered it… :stuck_out_tongue:

I also should have thrown in a line about eating someone’s liver, now that I think of it.

Ah, I see you’ve done archeology in Northrend while trying to finish a Nerubian Rare artifact.

NO SINGING! XD That’s a tad disappointing though.

Speaking of archeology, I picked up an addon called SAL, and I have to say, it’s actually making it more fun for me. I tried Archy, but that was too much bells and whistles for me. See, what SAL does is put a HUD on your screen outlining the dig area and where you are inside it. Then you can click to lay down a colorcoded line on the HUD that has shading to show the area of probabilities. That makes it more fun than just trying to eyeball from a couple points of reference. (Five! Ten! Do fractals!)

Regarding flirting, I can’t say that my troll lady has gotten flirted with. Maybe because she doesn’t use the cutefase – she uses the ‘People Are Breathing Near Me’ face. My priest is undead with empty sockets for eyes and a defleshed jaw. Somehow that’s a tad offputting for folks, I have no idea why.

Isn’t there the random burning dragon forest there too? Or is that already in uh, Grizzly Hills? I mean, I can understand the random burning dragon forests in Twilight Highlands. But the ONE random burning dragon forest in the middle of the snow?

On another note, started grinding for Netherwing rep last night. The cognitive dissonance from having 3 expansion packs all going at the same time is hilarious. They’re all freaking out about how strong the fel are because they caught Alexstrasza, meanwhile I just finished the Alexstrasza/Deathwing quest line in Twilight Highlands a week ago and flew over the Wrathgate a couple days ago. Alex gets around! In more ways than one.

Amg. I’m in Frostwhisper Gorge doing more arch, and I just tripped over a friendly satyr named… Lorax! He’s mostly hidden in a small ruined gazebo behind the imp selling exotic reagents.

He speaks demonic so I can’t tell if he’s speaking for the trees or not…

True. One burning forest, with burning dragons. And vrykul. Lots of them.

Do you play Horde? If so, pay close attention to the Overlord of the Dragonmaw camp out there, your “boss” while you’re undercover. When you play (or played) Twilight Highlands, he’ll be a familiar (ugly) face.

God, it felt good to kill that pompous douchebag in TH. I have no idea how he survived his stupidity in Netherwing Ledge; maybe I killed Illidan too soon. But erasing that mistake felt wonderful.

Oh! I thought he looked familiar for a long time, but I couldn’t place him and never bothered to look him up. Thanks!

I never even realized that was him! All I really thought was that he was supposed to be an object lesson in what Garrosh is heading for.

And I really hope Blizzard lets the Horde pull a Tahrir Square on Garrosh before they take him down…I still have juggling torches left…
