Had a fun late-night session on my belf pally. I picked up Edge of Ruin in H:ToC a few days ago, so I thought I’d better train up my 2h axe skill. I got it up to 350 by beating on the lvl 70 elites at Kil’Jaeden’s Throne in Hellfire Peninsula, then headed back to Northrend and decided to combine my weapon leveling with some herbing and skinning.
So I was flying circles around the Foot Steppes in Storm Peaks, looking for herbs, skinning rhinos, etc., when one of those blue protodrakes there aggroed on me and dismounted me in midair. I actually had the presence of mind to bubble before I hit the ground, and when the protodrake followed me down I had my revenge on it. And it just happened to drop Je’tze’s Bell, which WowHead says has an AH value of around 1900g (and my Auctioneer addon says its market price is around 2600g … we’ll see)!
Then to top it off, a bit later I was flying around Icecrown doing more herbing and weapon training, and was flying up to the Argent Tournament Grounds to call it a night, when I spotted High Thane Jorfus wandering around and took him down
… and in a bit of true absurdity, I ported to Orgrimmar where I discovered somebody had managed to kite Overlord Mok’Morokk all the way from Brackenwall Village (Dustwallow Marsh). And strangely enough, he was completely unkillable he was at 1/7392 and would go no lower, despite the crowd of 80s wailing on him.
Decided to make use fo my Stone keeper’s shards and bought the 325 piece heirloom staff, which I have sent to a new toon i started, a Draenei priest, who is going with mining & JC.
Noticeably easier to kill stuff with the heirloom. He is hitting for 45 ish damage per swing, so he can just stand there in shield and destroy the at level (or slightly higher) mobs without taking damage
This is my first try with JC. Made one of those stone idols, and used it to heal myself. Frikkin’ hilarious. Also made some delicate copper wire. Will be interesting to see how this craft progresses.
My Pally is now Crusader Sagan! I have to say it is the most appropriate title for a paladin in my opinion. Now I have to run the dailies some more to get the Argent Charger to finish the look. I decided to spend the seals I had on heirlooms for my warlock (and use on my Worgen mage in a few months) to get her to 80 ASAP, didn’t appreciate just how good she would look in them too World of Warcraft if only the helm jewel thing was purple/pink.
I know not about what you speak Quasi regardless, the only money they get from me will be my monthly fee and any upgrades (like Cata). If you ever need to spend additional cash to buy specific eq to compete, I will probably lose all interest, and move on to something else.
I think Quasi is talking about this, a limited edition, full size replica of Frostmourne, ie something for Warcraft fans with much more money than sense.
Ah, that’s OK then. People who need a REALLY big letter opener, who have large bags of cash laying around are golden. As long as you can’t buy your way through in the game I am happy enough. Not that I will ever be at the top of the tree, but at ;east everyone is on the same playing field.
Was this in an e-mail you got? It sounds like someone trying to sound like Blizzard to scam you. Don’t ever send any money to anybody above your subscription. Blizzard won’t make you buy anything (except the subscription) to play.
That’s one thing I like about WoW. They don’t do the DDO or (nor) LOTRO deal where you can play for free but certain classes or races or items need to be bought in real money.
In the last days I’ve received several tells of the “Nigerian scam” variety: things like “Blizznotice tells you 'You have won an epic mount and have not claimed it yet! Please go to www.fakeasswebpage.com to claim it.”
What makes me angry about those is that there’s two kinds of people likely to fall for those: morons (their fault) and children (not their fault, and Mommy can’t sit on their shoulder all day).
On further and extremely important news, my paladin (the first char I made in this server, but one who’d been stuck at 30sh for ages) just got her first exalted rep. Fittingly enough, it was with Argent Crusade.
When my draenei mage hit 80 she passed her heirlooms down to my night elf priest, and I too was surprised how good the elf looked in them - better than the draenei did:
And again with Overlord Mok’Morokk up there … I was just standing back observing the fun, when I noticed a number of people were popping up with the [Who Ordered a Knuckle Sandwich?] achievement, and I realized, “Hey, unkillable mob that is too low-level to hurt me! Why don’t I finish leveling this 2h axe skill?” So I jumped into the fray. By this time Keliraeda’s skill was high enough that there was quite a bit of time between points, so I eventually just left her there smacking the guy, activated my screensaver, and went to bed. Checking back this morning, I see she went from 387 to 396 just on Mok’Morokk
On the downside, I somehow thought today was the last day of the Fire Festival, so I didn’t get her to Orgrimmar in time to finish things up. So she’s got nearly 500 Burning Blossoms and nothing to spend them on
Need to up my mining skill and I’m at the Adamantine Ore stage, so I’m just randomly wandering around Outlands. Decided to check out Netherstorm. Daaaaaamn, I went in there and was all like omgwtf shit is this? Thank God for flying mounts or I might have just lost my shit. Creepy place, yo.
Got my letter saying I could get my flying mount and cold weather flying upgrades. HA HA HA HA HA 5000 gold. cry I know you aren’t expected to have that yet, especially if you don’t even have enough characters to have a bank alt, but it still made me cry.
Cold weather flying is a mere 1000 (or is it 2?) gold. It is the Artisan flying skill that is 5000, and I am not pining away for the lack of it myself.
That’s because:
A) They buffed the speed of the normal flying mount, originally it was slower than the epic ground mount.
B) You’ve never had an epic flying mount, once you’ve tried it you will never ever want to go back to the slow version.

This is so true. I thought I’d not bother on my warlock but after being on the pally (especially with Crusader Aura also) she is sooo slow, saving up now.
First WOTLK dungeon with my lock last night, Utgarde Keep and though I had a good group it was a bad run, 6 wipes including two on trash. Is this considered tough at level? I never did them on my way up on my main. It was a good group because we stuck together after the initial zone in when about 3-4 various people dropped immediately. The druid was tanking for the first time and let us know straight away and one and a half hours after we started we got Ingvar down. Such a relief. DPS is fun.
Yeah, that dungeon is tough if people are barely at level. There are some bosses which are immune to the lowest level of people who can zone in.
Yesterday’s run on my DK, who hasn’t so much “just broken 80” as “barely scratched it” - he doesn’t have negative gs because it’s not possible to: I zone in, discover it’s HoL and the first boss is already down. The tank was grabbing 2-3 groups every time; he only stopped (and not always) if the healer yelled “MANA!” We must have wiped half a dozen times. At one point he grabs one group of dwarves, a pair of overgrown protohumans and runs to give Loken a kiss. We splat (again).
Healer: “dude, why didn’t you stop?”
Hunter: “you didn’t say to”
Healer: “he shouldn’t have needed me to!”
Tank: “I didn’t know that was supposed to be hard”
That second fight with Loken was a very good exercise for me. I got on the trinket I have that’s got some damage mitigation, used my selfheals to make sure I was full health before any AoE and my mitigations to avoid some of the damage, managed to stay alive… but still want to grab that tank (and that hunter) and explain the ABC to them, via trepanation. I was basically along for the ride and just kept my mouth shut and ran a lot, but those are my two most expensive frosties so far.
Sometimes tanking sucks. Pull too many mobs and die, it’s your fault for pulling too many mobs. Pull too few and people bitch that you should be puuling more. It’s always the tank’s fault.
