It could be worse. You could do what I did and convert your badges one at a time because you forgot about shift-clicking to multi-purchase an item…with 100+ badges…3 times to convert them for Runed Orbs. facepalm
Decided to work on my Ambassador title. I still hate rep grinds though! Just running Cata normals. I have Gnomregan and Gilneas to do. If they had starting zones I could instead I would do that - that’s how I got my Exodar rep and it was more fun than dungeons.
The “Ready for Raiding II” achievement is really starting to frustrate me. It’s the last one I need for the “Veteran of the Molten Front” meta achieve (and a sweet new title), but after about a week and a half i only ever get the same 3 lieutenants. So here i sit at 3/5 for the achieve, and another day of Giant Smoldering Bohemoth… or whatever he’s called… sigh.
Me too, Clawdio! Especially because, unless there are friendly folk in Molten Front, you don’t know what the Lieutenant is. I’m stuck on Cinderweb Queen for that one, but I’m also stuck on the Death from Above bombing run, and believe it or not, Fah Jarrak. I see him all the time, but I can’t solo him and no one seems to be around (or Allies get to him first). This morning I got him to 10% on my own before a hunter showed up and started helping me. I died before Fah, and didn’t get credit:(
As for Ready For Raiding II, I think the Devout Harbinger is the worst. You have to have a ton of stuns/interrupts. If she even get’s one cast off…no achievement. Definitely have to gang up for that one. At least you can try again on that one.
Thanks Infovore I tried that last night, and I’m not sure my dps went up that much. I usually burn to 30% because Evocation will get me back to 100% mana from there. The addon I installed (SexyCoolbar) helped me with CoolDown management, and separating my mana gem from my CDs also helped. Otherwise I’ve been doing the same rotation as you and still getting only 13k. Hell I even went on worldoflogs and checked out the worst arcane mage on Baleroc (a mostly stand and fire fight) who was still doing TWICE as much dps as me. He’s casting faster than me, hitting harder even though I have better or close, crit and haste. (He is wearing 4pcT11 so I’m going to try that again:/ )
I’m so frustrated with my dps, because it seems like it should be better. If i didn’t know better I’d say I’m casting a downgraded spell. (But I do)
I got a wild hair up my butt last night, and decided to fish up all the coins from the Dalaran fountain in one sitting. By the time I finished my 19th Aquadynamic Fish Attractor, my eyes started falling out, so I had to quit just 2 coppers away from complete.
I completed the Silver coins first, on the 401st cast.
I completed the Gold coins on the 447th cast.
I gave up two Coppers short, on cast 547.
My Fishing skill went from 325 (+Nat Pagle’s Pole, the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat, and the Aquadynamic Fish Attractor) up to 383.
I caught 228 Fountain Goldfish, 136 pieces of junk, 34 Gold Coins, 67 Silver coins, and 82 Copper coins. I caught each Silver coin at least twice, with several tied for most at 7 apiece. I caught a couple of the Gold ones only once, but caught Thrall’s four times. Same with coppers - other than the two I missed, had a few only once, but Ansirem’s 8 times.
Dunno when I’m gonna finish…
Joe
I don’t want to tell you how much time I spend in the sewers trying to fish out the Giant Rat pet. Never did get the damned thing (but I did eventually get all the coins in the fountain).
Yup, i need Cinderweb & Devout Harbinger… never even seen them.
A trick I used for the Death from above that helps if you’re willing to miss out on a few marks each day (whcih i assume you are since you have all the other achieves). You can pick up the bombing quest and just never turn it in. That way you get a shot at getting the ones your missing everyday. You still have to do the beginning quests to get rid of the fire so you can get to the vehicle, and you won’t be able to pick up the quest for the lieutenant since you won’t be turning the quest in.
Personally, right now i have the quest for the lieutenant in my log, but i never actually do it (or any of the other dailies), i just ride back there and see if its one of the ones i need or not.
That’s dedication. I tried for the coin achieve on my achieve collector toon back in Wrath, and I still have something like 4-5 coins, silver and gold, left to get. I know what you mean about eyes falling out – I can’t just turn up the sound and read a book, I have to actively watch that stupid bobber.
Atonement spec on a Disc Priest is pretty damn fun, just FYI. Although it *is *depressing when you’re running a random and pick up a DPS who’s so terrible that they’re doing less damage than you are while you’re the healer.
I can’t do the research I need from here, but I’m reasonably sure that you only do about double your DPS as threat in tanking stances. I’ll check it out again when I get home. The 110% melee/130% ranged is, however, correct.
This is… accurate for doing five-mans or content you overgear. *Not *for hardcore endgame raiding. Although since you’re confused by the word “progression,” that’s probably not much of a concern for you.
Stamina is not the king of the hill it was in Wrath. But that doesn’t mean it’s useless, or that tanks get 100% of the Stamina they need from gear. (Look at someone like Grafarion, the GM of <vodka>: he’s still using some Stam enchants, combo gems, etc.) And where it’s overtaken, it’s by *mitigation/avoidance *stats like Mastery, Parry, and Dodge. *Not *threat stats. Anyone you see gearing for threat is (a) only doing easy fights and/or (b) doing it wrong.
Unfortunately, glitches like this, you’re pretty much just SOL.
If you kick the asshole and replace them, you’re at the head of the queue for a new tank. Dropping and requeuing puts you back at the bottom again.
Needs more Brazier of Dancing Flames + Spirit of Summer!
I’m pretty sure that’s the worst mixed metaphor ever.
After hating it for most of the time since launch, Throne of Tides is quickly becoming my favorite heroic. It’s short, you can skip almost half the instance, and as an arcane mage, I can do like 150k dps on the last boss fight by blowing cooldowns, time warp, and AB spam at the end
Woohoo! Our team got Ragnaros down last night! What a fustercluck that was. We had gotten him down to 0.8% the night before (that’s heartbreaking, I’ll tell you! Even our WoL listing said we’d killed him!), so we returned with renewed vigor last night and beat up Ol’ Fiery! I and a couple of others had killed him once before with other groups, but it felt really good to get him down as a team.
BTW, I sympathize with the “everything I own is on fire!” cry. I was lucky enough to get the tank shoulder drop from our last kill, and Sulfuras, The Extinguished Hand from this one. Is it a little warm in here, or is it just me?
Level Flight? About a week ago I downloaded this add-on, thinking it would keep Silka at the altitude I choose with the occasional adjustment from me, but no - sometimes she does fly level, but most of the time she flies like she’s going to land and I have raise her back to the original altitude.
Is this an anomaly of the game or is there something else I can fix?
Thanks
Q
Grats on Ragnaros! Had my first attempt at him last night, but we banged our head against his fiery feet for only 30 min. I think phases 1 & 2 should be pretty easy. Even the transition should go smoothly if we all get our collective shit together and divvy up the Sons. As it was last night, we had a plan, but people kept ad libbing…and wiping.
My guild is going to setup an ‘A’-team to get the progression on Ragnaros and I’m not sure I’ll be part of it. I already missed out on the chance to be #2 for the staff. So I’m hoping we get him close in the next couple weeks giving me a chance to gear up.
I dunno about the add-on, but maintaining level flight is pretty easy without any addon. Just zoom all the way out, hold spacebar to climb to desired altitude, use mouse (hold left button) to adjust the mount’s orientation to the horizon, then hit numlock…you’ll fly straight and level with minimal correction input. Turn. descend, land as normal.
Okay, thanks, Oak. When I zoom out, will I turn transparent as I do when I zoom out too far on the ground?
Thanks
Q
When I say “zoom out” I mean you want the camera as far away from your character as possible in a third-person point of view. You only become transparent when you “zoom in” for a first-person point of view.
Do you have any flaming kitties yet? I’m so jelly of that!
Clearly I’m not talking just about 5 mans. Perhaps not so clearly I wasn’t confused by the term “progression” but was speculating that you might not have been using it in the standard manner. You don’t need to be undergeared to progress.
Certainly it’s not worthless. It is the absolute best survival stat. Nor will a person automatically get enough Stam just from their gear. My point was that if you were appropriately geared for the content you were doing then you had enough Stam already. If you were starting Bastion of Twilight in 346 blues then you didn’t need to stack Stam. If you were starting heroic Bastion in 359 purples then you didn’t need to stack Stam. If you are starting Firelands in 346 blues then yeah, you are gonna need Stam. Maybe in heroic Firelands you need extra Stam even if you are all decked out in 378 that you aren’t getting from gear. I’m not there yet.
The Stam decision is pretty simple. If you are getting 2 shotted then you need more Stam. If not, you don’t. In that case more Stam might make your group more successful in the fights but Avoidance will help you more (unless your healers never run out of mana). If you are taking 70K hits then it’s a rare situation where having an extra 10K or 15K health will save you. And those are situations where your healers let your health bar get too low. It’s a healing problem and not a tank problem. The best way to help your healers is to conserve their mana so they don’t have to hesitate when it comes time to use their best and (most expensive) spells. Stam is great. The best. But extra Stam isn’t as useful as extra Avoidance.
Telling people to look at successful raiders for stat decisions is bad advice. The top raiders are at the top because they are really really good. This does not make them good theorycrafters. Grafarion could prolly stack Spirit and down just as many bosses. Those of us without that level of skill need to be more careful. People reading the thread shouldn’t believe that I’m right because of the raid bosses I’ve killed. They should believe me because I’m the one that provided an explanation that makes sense.
We do! Our kitty druid got the staff this week. He’s very excited and we’re all very jealous of him!
I’m thinking of leveling my druid after this tier is old news, just to go back in there and get me one of those.
Got it, thanks.:smack:
