“Darrowshire” has the distinction of one of the few WoW machinima that can actually reduce me to tears (along with the ending of the original quest chain). However, the quest line itself lost a lot of impact at some patch in the past when the post-event of the final quest in the chain got changed. You no longer get to see the reunion between the spirits of little Pamela Redpath and her redeemed daddy Joseph. Total bummer, IMHO.
ETA: However, that ending is still in the Darrowshire video.
Actually, I’m pretty sure it still happens. You just miss it because Pamela sends you to dig your reward out of a box behind her house while the reunion is taking place out front, and I suspect most people, after getting the reward from the chest, just hop over the hill and back to the main road instead of walking back around to the front of the house.
Same here. Musically, I think that’s one of the best WoW songs ever written.
A few other WoW machinimas that I like a lot:
One More Soul to the Call- the song is from Silent Hill (and I adore it, to the point where I had to track down the MP3 version), but the video is from the perspective of Sylvanus Windrunner.
Ni Hao - A politically incorrect little tune about gold farmers. Nyhm is almost always funny.
The Device Has Been Modified - the song is from Portal (or was written as a fan song–not sure which), and the video is by one of the big names of WoW machinima, Baron Soosdon. Weird and cool.
Hardware Store - Weird Al’s song set to a WoW theme in Gadgetzan. This is the first WoW machinima I ever saw, before I even started playing.
The music will have to wait till in the morning for me to hear the rest. I just finished a 3 hour stint in Mt. Hyjal and I can’t hold my eyes open a minute longer! I am hoping that these guys get a chance at having that great music featured in one of the upcoming films, and I’d give my left nut… well no… that’s the one that missing … to be the drummer on one of their tunes. So looking forward to the new trilogy whomever is used as the composer.
I’ll check it out, then. I have plenty of alts that haven’t done that chain yet. I hope you’re right, and maybe the only change made in that patch I mentioned was to make that bit of scripting more brief. (In the original, Joseph Redpath would walk up the road into Darrowshire and spend several seconds in conversation with Pamela.)
I think the only reason I saw it was because one of my toons was completing the chain just a minute behind somebody else, and Joseph was coming up the road as I was trotting up to talk to Pamela (and I think I had to wait for the scene to finish before I could talk to her myself).
I’d go back and double-check it myself, but I canceled my account in February and won’t be back until MoP.
I agree, the mail sets are pretty bad unless you’re a female. Then they have some nice bikinis. Also, armor just looks terrible on nelf dudes in general (IMO, of course). Every time I run Well of Eternity, I cringe at my poor toon’s hideous uglification.
As for male nelfs? I wish I knew how to navigate the Japanese and Chinese fanart world. I also wish the tunics that are booby on girls didn’t go up to the neck on men. I like your skimpy troll man!
That looks like the final room of Blackrock Depths. The Dark Iron throne room (“The Imperial Seat”). Ultimate bossfight of BRD main quest line.
Been there a few times. (Lately, grinding Dark Iron Residue for Thorium Brotherhood reputation. Because I’m cheap and I wanted the rep discount before turning in Additional Armaments and buying my epics from Damek Bloombeard. Yeah. I did two complete clears of BRD in order to save myself 30g. Probably not economical, but whatever.)
Had to bring this thread back to the front page to brag; Heroic Madness of Deathwing is dead! Yay! This is the first tier I’ve fully completed. Feels pretty good!
One final change to strategy (and one final beer) is what did it for us. I’m pretty siked, I just need one more achievement for the Glory achievement.
After a sojourn in SWTOR I am back playing wow, switched to a PVP-RP server and in the process of levelling alts while trying to find a guild for my main in Mists. It is good to be back.
Anyone in the Beta? The Warlock changes are so good even in their current unfinished state, I have fallen back in love with Demonology after being Affliction for late Wrath and Cata.
Haha, as soon as he went down, Arrya (the other hunter) shouted, “Now give me my bow!” To which someone replied, “You don’t need the bow, he’s dead”. And no, the bow didn’t drop. There was a tanking sword though! :dubious:
The current plan is to hit the achievements people missed. Most of which should be done on regular. And since we need to clear the whole instance on heroic to get back to him, it makebe a week before we try him again. (actually you and a couple others still have the raidid to get us back to him, so that may be a possibility.)
Midsummer Festival started yesterday. This was the last one i needed for the “Long Strange Trip” meta achieve. (i’ve picked up the others over the years but finnally decided to buckle down and finish it up). Anyway… i was able to get all the midsummer achieves last night and the meta, BUT, i mistakenly bought that stupid helm that turns you into a humanoid cook fire - thinking that i needed it for the pole dancing achievement… but you only need the shoulders, chest & feet. 350 tokens down the drain. Kinda of a bummer cause i really wanted that pet that is like a little dancing lady made of flame. I think i can still get it before the festival is over, but now its gonna be a huge PITA, when i could already have it in my grubby little hands.
I’m pretty sure they changed it last year. It would appear that Blizzard, for whatever reason, wants these “holiday” achievements to either take more than one year to complete, or for people to grind grind grind on daily quests. So people buying the clothes, getting the achievement, and then selling them back to buy something else for another achievement went against their “philosophy”. So no more refunds.
