I’m 13 quests down on Loremaster of Kalimdor and I think I hit a wall. There are exactly 2 quests I can find that I haven’t done, and both are started by rare drops (Ship Schedules and Williken’s Journal). I’ve been killing pirates and ravasaurs for two days now with nothing to show for it.
Beyond that, I don’t know where I can possibly find another 11 quests, assuming those drops actually drop for me at some point.
When I hit a brick wall on my Loremaster, I installed the wowhead client so I could upload my quest completion profile to the website and go zone by zone looking to see what I hadn’t done according to their database. Made it easy peasy
Is this that odd? I know my Pally only had new spells every other level for a fair chunk of levelling, in fact I’m in the habit on all my toons to only get spells every even level now because of it.
I rolled a death knight and got her through the Death Knight starting zone pretty well done even though I had a couple of glitches including being ressed by a flying maiden thing while in the air so I promptly plummeted to my death again. I have a problem though, I love how she looks at the moment in the blue DK gear and have no desire to obtain a clown suit in Outland
Mithrander, there are two levels of badges, and two levels of badge gear. Depending on what you currently have, the lower-level badges may still be useful: you get one of those off every boss you kill in a heroic dungeon, plus two more for any random dungeon you complete in a day beyond the first one (which gives two of the higher-level frost badges).
You can buy both kinds of PvE sets at armorers in Dalaran: the emblem vendors in each faction’s Citadel have the PvP set and some off-set pieces.
Hi. You’re in the same boat as me though for different reasons I got my first character to 80 not long after my son was born so being able to commit to raiding was impossible. I did run heroics for a while but the progress is so slow I have given up on that now waiting two weeks for a new piece of gear at 3-4 heroics a week not much fun.
I know you said you don’t like PvP but have you tried Wintergrasp? You can sit on a cannon if you’re defending or drive a vehicle to escape some of the havoc and getting honour from this can give you some pretty decent PvP gear which is excellent for running dailies even if it isn’t itemised perfectly for that.
Through level 60, you only learn skills every other level, but after that, generally there is a skill to learn at every level, although sometimes the skill may be something you have to talent into, so if you haven’t talented for it there will be no skill to learn. Or, as in the case of Hunters at lvl 64, there might be nothing.
The sad thing about that is that all the pets get shrunk once they’re tamed. Of course, a full-size devilsaur is going to be problematic in some places.
I don’t like the adult-murloc sound either, but I absolutely adore the baby one. Before I got my Murkimus, I used to go to the place where the Murky dealer was just so I could repeatedly click on him and make him burble.
BTW, I’m a happy camper this morning. I got a beta invite!
It’s weird - all of the really memorable lowbie stuff that people share (“you no take candle!” “Mmmrgrgrgrgrgllll!” Hogger) are from the Alliance side; can’t really think of anything comparable on the Horde side.
Hunter Abilities by level Nothing at 64 Immolation Trap bump at 65 and Kill Command at 66. So only one new skill in those 3 levels. So it’s a little slow going through the early-to-mid 60s.
Speaking of Murlocs. I am leveling my Druid through the wonderful mini-murloc quests. For the first time I collected Winterfin Clams and bought the eye-patch and a bunch of the Winterfin Horn of Distress that summon a Winterfin to help you out for 30 seconds. (like the flare from Zangarmarsh) Glad it works in 3 zones and not just the one!
I’ve been running heroics lately. I only have 6 pieces (I think) of purple level 80 gear, all pvp stuff except a wand that dropped of one of the bosses. Also have a blue helmet that dropped off a main boss (forget which one, but helmet is item level 200). So far, my dps is…kinda low, but I’ve only been booted once–and that wasn’t really my fault. The healer asked me for water, so I gave him some instead of fighting during the non-stop sprint to the first boss. El-booto for me. Otherwise, the runs have gone fine. My spell power is currently about 1330-ish or so. On most heroics, my main tactic is to cast Blizzard (AOE) on whatever the tank has pulled, until there’s only a mob or two left, then switch to single target spells. For bosses, obviously, it’s mostly single-target stuff and that’s where my DPS suffers a bit.
Still, though, I can earn enough honor to get almost a new piece of pvp gear every day or two, plus get a drop here or there.
I have something like 4 frost emblems, and a bunch of Emblems of Triumph. Not real sure what to do with those. I guess save them for some of the PVE gear, around item level 230+?
Also not sure what the difference in the emblems is. Can I trade Triumph for Frost or vie versa? Should I?
I’m thinking I want to get geared up, and maybe try some of the easier raid content. Advice solicited…
There should be several emblem exchange NPCs in your faction’s Dalaran enclave. I know the Horde ones are up the ramp beside the portals, at the tower in the courtyard.
You can always trade higher emblems for lower ones on a 1 to 1 basis. So you can trade Frost for Triumph, but not vice versa.
As for whether you should–it depends on whether you’ve run out of things to buy with the higher ones. I wouldn’t trade Frost down (I prefer to buy Primordial Saronite and sell it–it still sells well on my server), but I often trade Triumph all the way down to Heroism to buy epic gems.
Frost emblems buy you ilevel 251 Tier gear or ilevel 264 non-Tier gear; Triumphs buy you 232 Tier & 245 non-Tier. You can trade down from Frosts to Triumphs, but better not. It costs 50 or 30 Triumphs for your Tier 9 gloves/shoulders/pants/chest/hat - i think 30 for shoulders and gloves and maybe pants and 50 for chest/hat/maybe pants. The wand is 25, there are rings for 35 and trinkets for 50; other item slots you have to trade down from Triumphs to the lower tiers, but you probably won’t have to worry about that for a while yet.
There are Emblem quartermasters in your faction’s area in Dalaran who will sell all the non-Tier items; Tier items can be found either at the appropriate shop in Dal (for you, the cloth armor shop) or at the quartermaster, who for Triumphs is in the Argent Tourney area of Icecrown, while for Frosts is inside the Icecrown Citadel raid area.
The easiest raids to get in on are the “weeklies” - there’s a guy in Dalaran in the Violet Hold area who gives out quest to kill one raid boss each week, with a reward of 5 Frosts and 5 Triumphs and a stack of cash. If you grab the quest on Tuesday afternoon, you can keep an eye out in Trade chat for people advertising “lfm weekly” or whatever. These are generally one-boss fights, after which everyone drops out; most of the quests are for the initial boss in a given raid (the first 4 in Naxx, OS, EoE, the first boss in ICC), with a few exceptions: there are 3 second-boss fights in Ulduar, where you have to do the Flame Leviathan vehicle fight first; and the Tourney of Champions quest is for the second boss in that fight.
Anyway, you should be able to find a weekly raid pretty easily, especially early in the week, and often the people running them aren’t all that particular about who they fill out with because they outgear the fight pretty badly. And the time commitment is pretty short because you’ll only be doing one or maybe two bosses.
Aha…so just bank the frost emblems until I have a bunch of them, then go swap em for really nice gear? In the meantime, I can use the easier to acquire triumph ones to get decent but not really uberific pve stuff?
At two frost emblems a day, it’ll be awhile before I go buy anything with them.
I’ve actually sorta gimped myself temporarily. I have the stoneshaper marks (something like that) to get more stuff, or enchant my new shoulders, but I’m saving them for the war mammoth first. It takes 300, and I’m at 200-something, so maybe this weekend we’ll see a gnome riding an elephant. If we can kick the damn Horde out of WG. They actually showed up to fight the one at midnight last night, and kicked our ass. First time I’ve ever seen horde win WG. Disgusting.
Equally disgusting, but more personal, is a damn cheapshotting druid named Deathreach. The guy will hide on the roof and oneshot people trying to buy stuff from the WG vendors. No reason to do that, he’s just a dick. He’s all tough now. Soon, I’ll have equal gear and enough HP to not be oneshotted so easy. Can’t wait to see if he still wants to play with someone more of a match for him…
I went with triumph gear before starting in on frost. You’re going to have a bunch of triumphs from running heroics and you only need 100 before you can get a 2set bonus. (Hands and Shoulder tier pieces are 50).
Be sure you find your tier vendor when looking. (In Dalaran it’ll be in one of the shops. Cloths are in the Clothes store, Plate gear is in the Blacksmith shop, etc – Or you can find them all outside the Crusader Colliseum (Horde: Aspirant Naradiel and Alliance: Aspirant Forudir)
I see I was beaten to the punch on this but I’ll post it anyway.
