Yeah, that combo would have been great for Ret Paladins (and Prot, to a lesser extent). Of course, I think they do combos for every pair of major stats, regardless of how useful they are together…
As a cat Feral, you should only worry about Stamina for soloing. And even then, I’d still rank Strength higher than Stam.
The reason that Agi is better than Dodge, IIRC, is that it also gives you Armor. At least it does for Warriors. (The DR on the Dodge it gives you might be different, too.)
The OT(s) should be stacked on the tank–have you tried putting a mark on your head so that the OT can keep track of where you are more easily? Also, if the OT keeps out-threatting you… depending on their HP/Armor, have you considered having them be the MT for this encounter? (Not that they shouldn’t be watching their threat meter, but.)
Grats! I find one of the most helpful things for Ph3 is to remind people that it’s not a DPS race. Once you make it past that second transition phase, you’re home free as long as nobody panics. Slow and steady wins the race at that point–you want to be paying attention to the Vile Spirits so that you don’t get instagibbed in your excitement to burn the LK down.
Since you can now apply raid targets while solo, what I do when SilverDragon pings on a mob is target it and apply a raid target like the star or diamond that will stand out. It’s still a few minutes of spinning about madly trying to find it, but it sure helps.
Yeah, I’m having one of those come-to-Jesus moments. I’m feeling a LOT more comfortable in 10-man Normal ICC, where I belong. It’s still a shock, as a first-time raider, seeing just how good the raid gear is compared to 5-man heroic stuff–I came from FFXI where you raided endlessly for a 5% chance at a weapon that maybe had 5-10dps more than the best trash drop, and a +1 damage-per-swing (not per second, per swing!) was worth a 10x or more increase in price over the base item. This guild has an A-team and a B-team, just happened to suck up a warm body slot in an A-team run. Realistically I’m getting my foot in the door for a raiding guild for Cataclysm.
Especially since I pulled some “trash” drops of gear that no one else wanted that were light-years ahead of my current set. Almost have the “epic” achievement now, as soon as I get a wrist and belt and some trinkets. Between that, reading ElitistJerks more often, and tweaking my rotation and glyphs, I’ve added about 1000-1500dps in the past week.
…I have my Explorer title, at least, which tells you what I spent most of my time on.
Ooo. I’ll have to try that! Part of it was that his target disappeared so he must have been at extreme range to boot. The next day, I tripped over Scarlet Lord Whoozit, and tried using a focusing lens to find him, which was successful. Had to land though, can’t do that while flying.
Personally, I carry a Focusing Lens around for occasions like this (although, as noted, you can’t use them while mounted). I’d think icon + lens would = uberwin.
Well, you’re also looking at the last tier of raid gear for this expansion. On paper, we’ve had four tiers since five-man content: Naxx, Ulduar, ToC, and ICC. But because of the 10/25 and regular/Heroic splits, we’ve really had much more than that. If you assume that a tier is about 13 ilvls, going from the WotLK-launch five-mans to Heroic ICC25 will jump you up *almost six tiers *(277 minus 200, divided by 13). That’s a hell of a difference. Going to Naxx10 or 25 gear from Heroic gear would be a much smaller boost–and if you were wearing gear from ToC5 or any of the ICC five-mans, it could even be a step down.
The ICC five mans are equivalent to ToC-10; very little through Uld-25 is worth even looking at. Maybe some trinkets or boots or something. (The ICC-5 heroic tanking trinket is teh suck).
Yeah, that’s mostly it. Original WotLK Heroic dungeons have 200 epics off the end bosses (Naxx10); H-ToC5 has 219s (Uld10); and the ICC five-mans have 232s (ToC10). There might be some good weapons, too, especially off things like hardmodes. The point was just that part of the reason that gear from H-ICC25 is *soooo *amazing compared to five-man gear is that there’s such a huge gap in ilvl between the original Wrath dungeons and the final tier of Heroic raid gear.
I picked up a Focusing Lens on your (I think) suggestion a while back, after repeatedly being unable to find Putridus in Icecrown after he triggered SilverDragon something like six times in one week (it was a week my server kept going down and up and down and up, and every time they rebooted it, the rare spawn timers got reset). The problem I ran into with the Focusing Lens was that its range is considerably shorter than the “visual range” SilverDragon uses to detect rare spawns. The next time Putridus spawned I clicked the SD thing to target him, and then tried to use the Lens, but he was still too far away. And you’d think something as big as Putridus would be visible from a mile away, but the haze in the air in the area where he spawns makes him practically invisible until you’re almost on top of him anyway. So unless you get lucky and randomly run right at him, you’re still not going to find him, even with the lens.
I did finally catch up to him one day though. Unfortunately, where I caught him was right in the middle of a crowd of little zombies. My pally could have dealt with Putridus or the zombie swarm, but both at the same time was too much and she died after getting the bastard down to about 5%. Then somebody else ran up and started attacking him, and he was dead by the time I finished my corpse run.
Yeah, I mostly had T9 stuff, ToC5 stuff, and a few pieces of ICC5 stuff.
What’s going to be hard for me NOW is that at least two of my theoretical best pieces are from Ruby Sanctum, which as far as I can tell no one is running in my guild.
It was a Trade Chat pug, not one of my usual runs. Tanks were marked and the fight had been explained, the other tank just didn’t have any experience tanking in ICC. I told him to hug the furry bear, but I guess he was allergic. I was way ahead on threat, pretty sure he was using Hand of Reckoning because he would just shoot to the top of Omen suddenly, followed by the boss whipping around and cleave ahoy!
First piece of T10 for my paladin today, yay gloves.
Weird, I could have sworn I tested it then and it still didn’t work. Guess I just forgot to try after all!
Yup, that would be hot hot taunting action, followed by another person on that side of the boss getting hit by hot hot Saber Lash action. (If he wasn’t in front of the boss… how was he picking up his portion of Saber Lash, anyway?)
Hrm, is there some reference this young 'un isn’t getting?
Also, y’all: I LOST MY BLADESTORM ability! A well-meaning friend tried to help me change my spec from arms to fury and somehow that ability got lost. I now have shockwave, but bladestorm was much more effective. Any ideas on what I can do to get it back???
PS: I went back to arms, because we couldn’t equip my off-hand with another cleaver, so now I’m in arms with my most important stuff missing…
Apparently not, FH. I have to learn/earn it again, right?
Also, I seem to have both elixirs, potions and eat/drink stuff in both my action bars and also in my bags (taking up space). How do I change it to just action bars?
Do you mean how can you have your consumables only on your action bars and not in your bags? If so you can’t do this, action bars are shortcuts to items and abilities they can’t actually store the item.
