The fact that Gordon won the gold glove doesn’t mean he is a better fielder, it mostly means that gold glove voters like to reward good offensive seasons.

Does leading the league’s left fielders in fielding percentage and put outs have anything to do with the Gold Glove?

Perhaps. However they have little to with who is the better fielder. Fielding percentage for left fielders is a particularly useless stat. Gordon by the way had all of one less error than Gardner. Is that supposed to mean something to you?

I already agreed that Gardner was the better fielder. Now tell me how that makes him the better player. Or do HRs, 2Bs, RBIs, Runs, Hits mean nothing to you?

You say Gordon strikes out more but he has a SO to HR ratio of around 6/1 while Gardner’s is 13/1.

Uh huh. That would be brilliant! For the next five years they’d be paying $40-$45 million a year for two guys platooning between DH and 1B and forcing Alex Rodriguez to play 3B full time even though he’s missed at least 25 games a year for the last three years. This is why they don’t let WFAN callers run baseball teams.

… But either way I don’t think that’s how the lineup would look. I think Girardi is maried to having Rodriguez hit cleanup. I don’t know why he’s been hitting Texeira third instead of Cano - well, it’s because he didn’t want two lefties in a row, but giving at-bats to Tex and taking them away from Cano is stupid - but in the playoffs he may have finally gotten it right and put Cano third. We’ll see if they stick with that next year.

Cano is from what I heard batting third next year. The big question is will A-Rod hold the 4 spot if he doesn’t start hitting, it is still his job to lose though.

The trade makes no sense. Gardner is one of the few bargains in the Yankees lineup and is still improving. Yanks need a pitcher to tide them over until the kids developed. They don’t need another hitter very much. Now a trade involving Swisher would be more interesting.
