Whew! again.
Chatting with 'toonie right now. He’s very alive and making me giggle, that rascal. I speck he’ll be along shortly to check in himself.
The dope has never been straighter nor more welcome!!!
Tell Toonie he is loved and tell him to be safe.
And let us know what he’s been up to…
Paul
Cyber hugs never convey, so I will make this brief for tonight. I feel loved, and accepted, and cared for here. You are amazing people, and what I have just read has just pushed me right over the edge. To where I needed to be right now.
Crying. I have so much to write, I want to wake up tomorrow and write down EVERY thing I’ve done seen and heard since 9 am yesterday.
Vix, I’d like to talk to you at some point. At about 1:30 p.m. today I stood at Ground Zero with a group of Surgeons, Nurses and EMT’s, waiting for our next assignment.
You stood there…when it was solid…just before it became what I beheld. I’m speechless right now.
With love and the gratitude that I cannot express properly right now ( mostly due to only 2 hours of sleep and two Mike’s Hard Lemonade’s ), off I go to bed for now…to write upon the morrow.
And, probably to go back there early next week. If not sooner. SO much work left to be done.
Geniune love to all,
Cartooniverse
p.s. Thanks to Geo, Tuba, Abby for filling in the blanks…as I’ve just learned anew, it’s the blanks that are blazingly terrifying
There is a Deity.
Thanks, Cartooniverse. I think we’re all going to sleep a little better tonight.
Ginger??? You too, darlin’. Y’all worried about me. I figure, you wanted to insure another shipment of Banana Bread with Chocolate chips up over the damned border. Can you imagine a dog sniffing that box? <grin> it’d never make it…
Toons
So very glad. So very happy. My prayers are now switched to all of those that didn’t make it.
Is that everyone?
I didn’t hear an answer to the question about minty green, but his/her profile says location is Texas. He/she hasn’t posted since last week. Any one know?
It’s very good to see so many NY area Dopers checking in. I don’t live in the city, but I work in lower Manhattan. Didn’t get to work yesterday, fortunately, as I went in late. I was in a subway that returned to 14th street and discharged its passengers. Unsurprisingly, couldn’t get through to anyone on my cellphone. Last night and today, I’ve been talking to coworkers. Our office is not close enought to the WTC for our building to have been in any danger of collapse or fire, but the whole area was affected by the smoke and debris. Today, watching the TV coverage, I was struck with how small the plane looked in the footage of it hitting the tower. Brings home how really big those buildings were.
Hey NYC Dopers, vix is proposing a picnic in Prospect Park in Brooklyn on Sunday in this thread.
I’d love to see as many of you as possible there if you can come.
I spoke with Eve at her home last night. She asked me convey her regards and her appreciation for everyone’s concern.
Thank God everyone is OK (I think… is anyone missing?).
I have a friend who works in the WTC, and just this morning got an e-mail from him saying he’s OK… thank God again!
Have we accounted for all of the NY dopers?
As far as I know (and as far as every NY Doper I’ve spoken with knows) we’ve heard from every NY Doper we’re aware of.
Now that everyone’s checked in, a follow-up question: has anyone heard how Alphagene’s doing with his work at the County Medical Examiner? Every time I see shots of the various search and rescue ops, I’ve been thinking of him. I can’t imagine the stress involved - hope he’s doing okay.
Some have noted that I’ve been around; but here I am officially checking in.
