New Yorkers Rally 'Round Sue Simmons! Or Not!

Apropos of very little, Jim Jensen was reportedly a hell of a tough softball pitcher. I know someone who batted against him in the 70’s and just could not touch his fastball.

As the old T Rex song parody went (probably on Howard Stern’s show though I don’t rememeber for sure), “Get it on…Kaity Tong…get it on”.

They’ve been trying to get her back, but . . . well, you know.

And I remember Sue Simmons very fondly from the years in NYC. Too back about her health problems.

I think every big metropolitan area has a team like this - in South Florida, we had Dwight Lauderdale (yeah, his real name) and Ann Bishop (around 3:30)

I liked Sue - she looks fabulous and I suspect there will be some tap-dancing done about retaining Chuck and ditching Sue.

What’s wrong with having “old” anchors? I personally like the continuity and comfort factor of having someone familiar deliver the local news. As long as they still do their job, they deserve to be there.

We used to joke about Chuck and Sue being drunk every Friday broadcast. I swear they actually were.

Just bumping thread to note that Sue is signing off at 11:00 tonight (Friday). * *sniff **

I fell asleep halfway through the broadcast. How did she sign off? Were there tears?

Even I got a little teary-eyed. And yes, they did address her obscene rant head-on! She made some noises about maybe doing some weekly or monthly work, so I guess some NBC cable affiliate may have some use for her old bones.

I went to school with her daughter.

Sue Simmons was doing the news in the D.C. area in the early to mid '70s. Not for long, though, she was very good and was obviously destined for bigger things. Hottie, too (that word did not exist at the time).

Thanks. I was pissed when I woke up this morning and realized I had dozed off.

It’s up on YouTube.

God, Brian Williams is hot. Loved his Ford’s Theater crack.
