I’ve been mighty sick for the past couple weeks, so recently the nookie action has been limited at best. Video games and TV are a bit easier on my hurting tummy than making the beast with two backs. That will have to wait for me to get healthy again…
In the meantime, Fallout and Bust a Groove sound like good choices. We’ve played card games, and they’re pleasant but not violent enough. And it’s hard to play strip poker when, well–suffice it to say that we have no air conditioning and we found an easy way to keep cool.
[semi-hijack]Anyone know of any adult stores in Chicago that can be reached by public transportation? The online sites I’ve seen seem to be sketchy.[/semi-hijack]

If you’re looking for very naughty things like bondage and rubber and metal collars and whips and stuff I’d suggest Taboo Taboo located at Belmont and Clark (Belmont El Stop on the red line). This store doesn’t have videos or a wide selection of TOYS, it’s more like a dungeon supply
If you’re looking for dildos, toys, videos, card games and that sort of thing, there’s a very very classy place on Broadway (Broadway and Barry I think) called The Pleasure Chest (it’s a chain across the country I believe). I enjoy going there, it’s brightly lit and fun and a great atomosphere. (You can get off at the Belmont stop for this one too and take the Belmont bus to Broadway…turn right and walk a few blocks)
You can always just walk up and down Halsted (Leathersport, Batteries Not Included…) but that IS boys town…so be ready.
In preparation for a Valentine’s Day trip to the beach I went to an adult toy store here in town (the name of which completely escapes me at the moment). I was browsing around and came across (that doesn’t sound exactly right, but I’ll leave it in) the display of cat o’nine tails, paddles, etc. The management had put a very nicely lettered sign above the merchandise that reads “Please don’t try the paddles out in the store. No test spanking permitted.”
When I was a young gal in the big city, I worked for a radio station in town and was sent out to buy a ‘nicely studded’ slave collar for Joan Jett to autograph so we could auction it off.
I went to taboo taboo and of course gave the standard “I’m buying this for a friend of mine.” They gave me the ol’ knowing wink and insisted on fitting me for a collar.
I mean, I wasn’t really complaining.
The clerk didn’t offer to custom fit my … well, ring, and you can’t really return them if they don’t fit.
All of this reminds me of a joke:
Two very proper ladies take their yearly shopping trip to NYC. Deciding to live dangerously, they visit an adult toy store in the Village. After browsing a bit and blushing a great deal they approach the counter and a selection of vibrators and dildoes catches their attention. “Excuse me, young man,” says one. “What exactly are those.” “They’re vibrators and dildoes,” is the reply. “Hmmm, I think I’d like one of the big black ones, yes that one right there will do just fine,” says one of women. “Yes, and I’d like that one there, the plaid one,” the other woman replies. “The great big one.” “But, madame,” says the clerk, “that isn’t a …” “Now, now, young man, I know what I want and I want the big, thick plaid one.”
After lunch the other clerk comes back and asks “How was business.” “Not too bad,” says the first clerk. “I sold a couple of ball gags, some latex underwear, a black dildoe and my Thermos.”
Thank you, thank you very much. You’ve been a great audience. I’ll be here all week…don’t forget to tip your waitresses.
My husband and I love playing Playstation games together – he plays, I watch. We recently discovered what was in our opinion a highly entertaining game in the “bargain bin” (IIRC it was £10 – about $15). It was a gothic RPG called Koudelka. It’s a similar concept to Resident Evil, except there’s a lot more movie sequences, the acting is relatively good, the story line is more gripping and unpredictable, and the puzzles aren’t quite so terribly obvious. There are lots of weapons and armour to pick and choose from, a variety of spells to cast, and various objects to find which help you (e.g. food). The only drawback IMHO was the “fighting sequences” (where you fight the monsters) take longer because of the RPG style (i.e. it involves turn-taking). My husband said he preferred it to the Resident Evil style combat, though, because there’s some strategy involved. Anyway, we found it to be one of the most enjoyable games we’ve played on the Playstation.
Also fun to play together (and take turns) are the Playstation games Driver and Driver II. Big cities to drive around, other cars to smash, and various crime-related missions to accomplish.
Try any of the Sid Meyer Civilization series. I’m sure you can find an overview on-line. It is an incredibly thought provoking gave that invoolves all sorts of strategy. Scientific, economic, military, etc…
On the Playstation, it’s worth looking for a little title called Blast Chamber. There’s a timer counting down as up to four players race around, avoiding room obstacles, each trying to pick up the gameball and deliver it into their goal. This is of course complicated by the other players, the ability to hit specific zones that rotate the room 90 or more degrees (so if you’re almost to your goal, the room flips clockwise, you fall and drop the ball), and various lethal traps that others can knock you into. Frenetic but fun.
Lacking two computers you’ll miss out on most multiplayer games, but the Playstation Diablo port is pretty decent.
Computer rpgs, adventure games, and more puzzle-oriented fare are fun to play with someone right there; take turns at the controls, while both apply brainpower as to puzzle-solving, tactics, and whatnot. Specific titles; I’ve played Fallout, Sam & Max Hit the Road, and Seventh Guest this way and have fond memories of all of them.
