Now, this is definitely weird. Also scary. And perhaps a portent of thing to come for us all?

I’m wondering what other weird news of the day y’all have come across?

Three people died after typhoon-like winds pulled them out through their apartment windows in southern China, as extreme weather battered the region over the past week…

Among [the total storm dead] were a woman in her 60s and her 11-year-old grandson, yanked from their apartment windows by strong wind together with their mattresses, according to CCTV citing media reports.

A 60-year-old woman from the same building was also swept out of the window by extreme wind. All three were confirmed dead, the state broadcaster reported.

ETA: I’m guessing those mattresses weren’t very thick.

First the typhoon blows out the floor to ceiling windows. Or the sliding glass door onto your balcony. Now you’re sitting in a concrete box with a typhoon in it, while insane winds try to thrash everything in your home. Lotta stuff is going to go out the opening, and the stuff that’s less dense will go sooner. First paper & cloth, then mattresses which aren’t all that dense, then heavy furniture last.

If somebody was asleep, or was awake and thoughtlessly tried to ballast their precious mattress using their body, well, now it and you are goin’ flyin.

Oops.

Bad situation all around, but hardly weird.
