Yesterday in Cologne the Pope confirmed Sydney as the site of the next World Youth Day in 2008.
I don’t know how widely the “youth” definition can be stretched but that’s one Mass I certainly intend to be at.

Congratulations. I lived in Denver Colorado several years ago when they held one there - it was a huge and apparently successful event. I’m neither Catholic nor young, so it holds no appeal for me, but I’m glad you’re looking forward to it.
Cool, innit? I’ll be 55 in 2008; I wonder if I’d still be able to sneak in?
And I’m proud to say it’s because we’ve been officially crowned by the Pope as the Least Enthusiastically Christian Western Nation. Yay for us!
Does this have anything to do with the popularity of Hillsong in Australia?
As they’re Protestant, I rather doubt it.
But will Sydney have any dirty dancing nuns?
Probably not, but if you check the city during Gay Mardi Gras I’m sure you’ll find a few.
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are not inactive hereabouts, especially come Mardi Gras time.
Curse you Askance. Beat me to the link.
