I’m lost, I did not mean to imply any insult and I don’t have a clue about the The Giant Walrus …
Joking.
Eagles fan, talking about the head coach.
The insult was that I might be a Cowboys fan, you see.
Now I get it, sorry.
Isn’t being an Eagles fan bad enough?
It was an interesting **Giants **win. They had more penalties than normal and still greatly curtailed the Warner led Arizona offense and shut down the rush completely.
Special teams did a great job as Hixon had 3 great returns. Carney was 3 for 3.
The offense worked great without the two best weapons, Jacobs was out and Burress left early. Manning was very efficient as the Giants were held to under 100 yards rushing. 26 for 33 with 3 TDs is a very good game.
Still keeping tabs. Impressive win on the road at the team that looks to be the NFC West’s rep for the playoffs. At 10-1, a 12-4 finish would at this point be a disappointment.
I would have liked to see Ahmad Bradshaw get more work – in part because I started him in the keeper league in a must-win game, but also because the running game was doing just ok with Ward, and Bradshaw has skillz, so why not mix it up?
Kind of a weird game to watch. The Giants’ offense looked competent but not extraordinary, mostly because they never really got the running game going, but then at the end of the game the scoreboard said that they scored 37 points. Part of that is due to good field position thanks to kick returns and turnovers, but still. This offense makes it look easy.
I guess so. I just wish the Eagles and Steelers had a game against each other this year. That way one team would get the shit slapped out of them and their fans could stop running around to unrelated threads dropping taunts. But since they didn’t play this season, here we are…
Well Pitt does not have a stellar record against the best Division in Football so maybe you can go with that.
The Kolb Era has begun in Philly. Or perhaps the A.J. Feeley Era if this doesn’t work out?
It makes me wonder if Matt Cassel will be wearing an Eagle’s uniform next year. He is a free agent.
I don’t think that they’ve even played any NFC South teams this year.
You got served!
We could wind up sending three teams to the playoffs this season. The Saints will be in last place at 6-5 if they win tonight.
Then again if they lose, they’ll be behind the Eagles.
I have several thoughts on various subjects.
Giants
Where was Danny Ware? I fully expected Coughlin to just move every back up one spot: Start Ward, spell with Bradshaw, bring in Ware to bat cleanup in the fourth. Ware looked quite impressive in preseason and I was excited to see him get some real game time. He’s sort of a cross between Ward and Bradshaw.
Too many penalties, though Ross got flagged on two bad PI calls where his head was turned back to look at the ball. Yes he had his arm touching the other guy while he was looking at the ball, but that perfectly describes every single catch in Plaxico’s career, so I was annoyed.
Love to see a Fair Catch Kick. Those come around every 40 years, like clockwork. heh. Nice execution, too! Ouch. Speaking of special teams, hey, I remember Ralph Brown. Boy does that bring me back to some lean years.
Cowboys
Glad to see them getting back to full strength just in time for the rematch. I greatly look forward to that game.
Eagles
So many thoughts. As much as I hate the Eagles, they’re getting a bit of a raw deal. Two weeks ago against the Giants, they had 3rd and short with the game on the line. Two Westbrook runs later they turned it over on downs, and Reid got (rightfully) killed. They aren’t a power running team, so they have no business trying to be one with the game on the line.
Either last week against the Bengals or yesterday against the Ravens, they passed on multiple 3rd and short situations, and the pundits killed them for it. WTF? That’s exactly what they should have been doing. That’s what they were criticized for not doing two short weeks ago. Just because it didn’t work doesn’t make it a bad call. That’s been bugging the crap out of me.
As for McNabb’s performance, well, it sucks to face a pissed off Ravens defense that just got humiliated the week before. In an odd scheduling coincidence, this Thursday the Eagles face their second straight opponent who is coming off a loss to the Giants. The Cardinals are going to be looking to lay a beatdown, so if Kolb starts, I expect it could get ugly. Despite the score, the Cardinals’ defense was no joke yesterday. They came to play and they played hard.
I’d like to see McNabb in a Bears uniform, even though the whole hometown boy thing isn’t looking so hot in Cleveland right now.
I only brought up the Saints to point out how good the NFC South has been this year- its last place team is 2 games out of a playoff berth. I don’t think they’ll make it unless Carolina continues to lay down the suck on offense, which is possible.
The Falcons are just too well-rounded to collapse and the Buccaneers can only lose to the Giants or themselves at this point.
I don’t understand how a team with such a huge offensive line can suck so bad at short yardage plays. They really should go out and sign Najeh Davenport or give Seattle a 6th-round pick for TJ Duckett or something.
I’m interested to see the current division rankings. First I have to update the spreadsheet to handle ties, which is annoying.
The South may have overtaken the East, but either way I think they are both a clear 1-2 with the AFC East close behind.
Yeah, no way they could lose to the Cowboys.
It’s not just size; it’s what you practice, it’s wearing down a D, it’s game reps, it’s what mentality you instill in a team.
You and every Eagles fan for the last ten years.
In related news, the whole “west-coast team traveling east loses” thing to end on Thursday.
