I have nothing to add at this time but GO COWBOYS!

First home field Super Bowl!

Hall of Fame Game … Dal v. Cin.

T.O. faces his old team. Will T.O. or 85 slam the ball in the middle of the field?

Re: Dal v. Cin.

Don’t you mean Dallas v. Dallas North?

I’d just like to note that as a Cowboys fan living in a Bengals market, I couldn’t be looking forward to this season more.

The Super Bowl’s in Green Bay??

That time is here again. Let conversation about the best division in football commence.

Last night’s battle of the Big Apple was interesting. Never like seeing Eli bleed like a stuck pig from a gash on his head, but hey, he’s a Manning. If a separated throwing shoulder doesn’t make him miss a single start, a few stitches won’t even register.

Victor Cruz looks like a stud in the making; I look forward to seeing him play against starting DBs. I’m optimistic anyway, since he embarassed some Jets DBs that have actually been starters in the past. The question is, though, can the Giants find a roster spot for him?

Steve Smith
Hakeem Nicks
Mario Manningham
Ramses Barden
Victor Cruz
Derek Hagan

Yep, he fits in quite nicely. If they really want a 7th receiver they can keep Sinorice Moss or one of the camp fodder rookies. I’m psyched for this group. Otherwise, sorry Sinorice, you just lost your job. Buh-bye.

I was happy to see the still-very-raw Jason Pierre-Paul get a sack against the Jets first team offense. I was also happy to see the Giants starters stay even with teh Jets starters despite the fact that 8 of 22 Giants starters were held out due to injury.

Could be a good year for Big Blue.

My thoughts from last night:

–Rolle!

–I’m getting more and more disheartened with Brandon Jacobs every year. His whole “I will not be denied one yard” schtick is getting thinner and thinner the more times he’s stacked up at the line. Yes, he was able to punch it in eventually, but the Jacobs we thought we were getting would have done it on 1st down, not 3rd. I guess the real telling thing is that a couple of years ago I expected him to score from the one, but last night I was surprised he was able to punch it in.

–Eli’ll be fine – dude’s an iron man, and that was basically a scrape. Granted, it looked fricking horrific, but it wasn’t nearly that bad in reality.

However, it does bring up something I’ve thought of in the past: Would it be terribly impractical to have helmet straps that run under armpits to help hold those suckers on? It seems we’re seeing more and more helmets go flying every year, and someone is going to get put into a coma one day from a helmetless hit.

–I think Fireman Ed is a total douche, but for fucks sake, let the guy lead his lame little cheer. And buy an updated jersey, ya wanker.

–Gotta get something going in the punting game, 'cause Matt Dodge ain’t looking like the answer.

–Cruz put on an absolutely sick performance – let’s just hope it wasn’t a fluke.

–None too happy to see Chase Blackburn being helped off.

–Ha ha…the Jests remain the guests. Sorry green, winning the offseason is worth absolutely dick once it’s time to take the field. How ya like them hard knocks?

Agreed on Blackburn.

The players said this yearly preseason game should be for the stadium name each year. Looks like in 2010 it’s the New Giants Stadium. hehheh.

the side straps are fine. most players just don’t buckle all 4. it’s totally a comfort thing. for some, a style thing. either way, it’s dumb. you can’t have the players union lobby for concussion compensation and have them walk onto the field unstrapped. i’ve always thought it was a fineable offense. it’s way more important than team socks, or whatever. another thing is that some skill position guys, especially WRs and DBs don’t wear thigh/hip/butt pads because it slows them down. well, hell where do you think all these contusions come from? i just don’t see how uniform fines don’t apply to PADS AND HELMETS but they do for cleats and socks?

i’m so pumped for the skins to start turning heads. shanahan’s zone blocking scheme may be chop blocking in disguise but it looks like it sure is effective. joey galloway for the 1st down. i didn’t think he was in the league still. is keenan mcardell?

Not as a player. McCardell is the Redskins’ wide receivers coach.

Dallas’ O-Line is going to be a big focus at the start of the season. Columbo and Kosier are both hurt now, so hopefully, it will work out by the time the season starts.

Looks like Doug Free is doing ok replacing Flozell Adams. Fewer penalties anyway.

Dez Bryant is expected to play preseason. I hope he takes Roy Willaims’ spot right out from under him.

No Eli this week, and probably no Sorgi either. The Rhett Bomar era begins on Saturday!

And ends on Sunday.

what happened to jared lorenzen?

The Pillsbury Throwboy!
One of my all-time favorite nicknames.

He went to go back up Peyton for a year before Curtis Painter took over the job. The Manning brothers just like to swap QB2s.

I wasn’t aware of Sorgi’s injury. Looks like Coughlin has exactly one QB on the active roster going into Saturday’s game. So, how wrong is it for me to be rooting for a mild game-ending injury to Bomar just to see who goes out there?

EDIT: The Battleship Lorenzen, The Hefty Lefty, The Pillsbury Throwboy; that guy was a nickname machine.

There’s kind of a lot of teams in a similar situation. The Bears will be without Caleb Hanie for a week or two and only have the rookie LeFevour to play out the next couple games behind Cutler. The screwed up salary system makes it pretty much impossible to have a high paid starter, a veteran experienced backup and a developmental guy. Would like to see something fixed that makes that possible in the next collective bargaining agreement.

He’s out of the NFL and is an assistant coach at his old high school.

Oy, Big Blue looked downright terrible last night against the Ravens. I’m keeping hope alive, but that kind of asskicking is pretty demoralizing. The G-Men got their shit pushed in even worse than the Superbowl.

Cowboys offense is looking bad. O-line is weak. UGH! I hope Romo doesn’t get killed this year.
