NFC East 2008

They can’t. It doesn’t matter, since with the exception of T.O., they never have.

McNabb has posted steller numbers year after year, mostly throwing to a less talented selection of who-dats than he has right now. Once Brown and Curtis come back, he might be able to go for 300 every week!

Today’s TMQ:

I saw that and thought of you.

Jessica Simpson talked trash about the upcoming Cowboys/Eagles MNF game this week. Youtube. Not sure if she’s aware that Romo has his worst games against the Eagles.

While I will be watching that game closely, all I’ll be rooting for the proverbial 22-fork lightning bolt to come out of the sky and strike everyone on the field.

Yeah, his last game against them he was a pathetic 20 of 25 for 324 yards with 3 TDs and 1 Int. I hope he does better this game.

His last game against them he was 13 for 36 with three picks, actually.

Is that a joke? His last game against the Eagles was the one where Jessica was in the stands with that pink-numbered jersey. You know, the image they always show when talking about her? The Cowboys never got into the endzone, losing by a score of 10-6.

Romo was 13 of 36 for 214 yards with 0 TDs and 3 Ints, for a passer rating of 22.22.

If you’re a Cowboys fan, take the blinders off.

Gah, Yahoo Sports sucks!

We’ll need more than that…can’t forget the sidelines.
Those benches are metal, right?

I feel weird, I expect the **Giants **to have an easy game this week. This usually leads to the **Giants **finding some unique way to choke. I hope the Rams play as badly this week as they look.

I have some of the same worry, but it’s mostly irrational. It’s that little voice that says “the Eagles made them look pathetic, now watch the Giants struggle against them.” On the bright side, Eli plays well against the Rams, with the last (only) time he played them being:

19 of 35 for 296 yards with 4 TDs and 0 Ints for a passer rating of 120.65

Among my predictions for this week in my fantasy advice thread:

That keeps pecking at the back of my mind as well – see last year’s NYG/MIN game. The Vikings had no reasonable shot at winning, so Eli goes out and throws four picks, three of them for scores. Unreal.

That said, I don’t see them choking on this one…that’s too tall an order even for them.

And let me add to the predictions by tossing in one for the defense: The Rams O-line is paper-thin. I forsee a double-digit sack count by Big Blue.

There was a history there. Like with the Falcons, the Giants and Vikings own each other on the road. The previous time they played was the same result: 4 picks with 3 returned for TDs. Hell, the same guy had a couple of them both times.

IIRC, that was the same season as the last Rams game, with the 4 TDs and 0 picks. So since Eli regurgitated that Vikings performance on us, he owes us a reliving of that Rams performance.

I’ve still never forgiven Eli for that Seattle game where he turned it over a half-dozen times. The Seahawks had like 5 D/ST touchdowns.

My fantasy team was up by 39 points, and the other guy had only Seattle left to play… and of course they scored 40+ points.

That isn’t possible unless you used some highly non-standard scoring. The Giants scored 30 points that game, (Eli threw 3 TDs in the second half,) so you wouldn’t get any fantasy points from the score. The Seahawks got 4 turnovers, (3 picks and a fumble,) 1 sack, and all of their points came from offense. (They scored 42 total points: Hasselback threw 5 TDs, Alexander rushed for 1, no XPs were missed.)

In standard scoring, the Seahawks defense earned around 10 points that game.

EDIT: Unless by “Seattle” you meant Hasselback, but I’m not sure how you can blame Eli for that.

'Skins looked like cack last Thursday, and that’s after two terrible looking preseason games. I don’t think I’ve ever been this uninspired at a season’s beginning in all of my years supporting the franchise.

They’ll have had a week and then some to get some semblance of an offense together. After tomorrow’s game vs. the Saints I’ll know whether I should find another hobby to occupy my Sundays or if there’s any hope…

The Iggles looked great vs. the Rams last week. Dallas, too. Monday night should be a good one. Giants fans shouldn’t get too hyped - Washington played a terrible game and it was still close until the end of the fourth quarter.

Huh. Maybe it was a different game. Has Eli thrown 3-4 picks for TDs in a game?

Both times he faced the Vikings. The first one was in 2005, then again last year. Just for completeness, that Seahawks game was in 2006.

I would bet the ranch you’re thinking of that 2005 Vikings game. (In addition to multiple pick sixes, they also returned a TD on special teams.)

Giants looked pretty good today. I’m cautiously optimistic about Justin Tuck; he may eventually turn into a pretty good player.

Redskins had a nice come-from-behind win against the Saints, making the Giants week 1 victory over them retroactively more impressive.

Looking forward to Monday night.
