NFL 2021: Week Sixteen Candles

It took all of 3 drives to turn off tonight’s game. Ugly, boring football.

The teams aren’t allowed to say; part of the agreement between the league and the NFLPA on the COVID protocol states that while teams can (and, I think, must) publicly disclose which players are on the COVID reserve list, they can’t say any more than that.

If an individual player wants to go public with what’s up with himself, that’s personal prerogative.

Now I am in love with the “waddle”

BTW, to build on this, here is a quote from the Packers’ official web site, as part of an article about them placing four players on the list today (note that the “Rodgers” mentioned in the article thumbnail is reserve WR Amari Rodgers, and not Aaron Rodgers):

There are a few that have been hospitalized where that information has gotten out.

Here’s one from Minnesota in November of this year. The name of the player wasn’t released but it was sussed out pretty quickly.

And a Jags player was admitted to the hospital twice in 2020. To be fair in this case, nobody confirmed it was COVID, but there aren’t many common respiratory illnesses over the last couple years that would do this to an otherwise healthy young person.

It’s been more common for college players on top tier teams to have announced hospitalizations, most likely because there’s just no way to keep that many tens of thousands of mouths shut in the absence of money.

The Dolphins have just become the first team in NFL history to have a 7-game winning streak and 7-game losing streak in the same season.

They are also poised to potentially become the first team to ever start 1-7 and yet still make the playoffs.

Unvaccinated Carson “Personal Choice” Wentz has tested positive for Covid. With his luck with injuries, I don’t think he’ll pass for Sunday. Might change the betting odds.
