NFL 2023 Off-Season Thread

Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders, who is now head coach of the University of Colorado’s football team, may need to have his left foot amputated, due to circulation issues.

Doctors had amputated two of his toes in 2021, but the issues have continued, and Sanders reports that he has no feeling on the bottom of that foot. He also indicates that, if the procedure is necessary, he wants to have it done right away, prior to this fall’s football season.

Patriots 2nd year cornerback Jack Jones was arrested at Logan airport with two loaded handguns in his carryon.. One of the charges is unlawful possession of a firearm, which means he didn’t have the required license for the guns either. So his career with the Pats is done, possibly done in the NFL altogether.

There is one ex-NFL player who I actually despise with every fiber of my being. He ticks every single box of “things Hamlet hates”. He’s a cheater. He’s a dirty player. He’s a racist asshole. He’s a horrible teammate. He’s deliberately tried to injure/end careers, of other players. The only thing missing is he never played for the Bears.

Now, he’s being sued by the IRS for $15.3 million dollars for tax evasion. Just a little pile of turd on top of the shit sundae that is Bill Romanowski.

From your description i immediately thought, someone like that probably played for the Cowboys or Raiders.

I looked him up… Raiders.

(His last season, probably when nobody else would take him.)

It takes a bit extra for me to hate a player who plays for “my” team. Romo had no problem blowing past that threshold.

There used to be a saying: No one’s NFL career is over until the Raiders say it’s over.

And that was back when they were one of league’s best franchises, not one of its worst.

Suspension day in the NFL:

  • Four players have been suspended for violating the league’s gambling rules. Three are suspended indefinitely, as they bet on NFL games, while the fourth will be serving a six-game suspension for betting on other sports while at a team facility.
  • Jaguars OT Cam Robinson has been suspended for the first four games of the regular season, for PED usage.

How sad that the story seems both plausible and doesn’t seem too far from the truth.

The two Indianapolis players, CB Isaiah Rodgers and DE Rashod Berry, have been waived by the team.

The Jets get picked for Hard Knocks duty. Guess Hard Knocks isn’t dead yet.

They don’t know who did it, but this ESPN story on the leaked Gruden emails is still a pretty juicy inside look at the soap operas inside league circles.

Given what we now know about the Dan Snyder organization, it’s no wonder he fought tooth and nail against the team ever being on Hard Knocks.

Cleveland Browns to use white helmets? Ugh

Leave it to the Browns organization to somehow find a helmet design worse than what they normally have.

I finished watching ‘Quarterback’ on NetFlix tonight. If you’re a Chiefs fan, like me, you’ll like the focus on Mahomes. But I also thought they they did a good job of telling the stories of Cousins and Mariota.

The NFL owners unanimously approved the sale of the Washington Commanders today. Fuck off, Snyder!

:clap:   :tada:

I like that there are rumblings of another name change just to further erase the shit-stain “legacy” of the prior owner.
