Here’s a good article on a position I never pay attention to - specifically, right tackle Penei Sewell of the Lions. I’m not sure I still fully appreciate his skills, although the included clips are impressive and stats like this are mind-boggling:
On runs targeted behind Sewell this season, 52.5% have gone for a first down or touchdown.
Since the rest of the Lions game this weekend will probably be a snooze-fest, maybe I should focus on him.
I’m behind but it’s now 4 possessions without a first down to start the game for Rodgers. They just showed a stat that this is now the third time he’s had this on the Jets compared to one time in his 18 years in Green Bay.
Yes, and so their starter is a second year player having the second start of his career, and it shows as he snaps the ball over Geno’s head for a 15 yard loss today (and it was lucky not to be a turnover).
Offsetting personal fouls in the KC/Buffalo game. I know 2 such fouls in 1 game means an ejection, but maybe if they players in question upon their 1st such foul had to sit out for either the next set of downs or for the entire current possession it would cut down on these ticky-tack cheap shots a bit?
The Steelers scored 18 points in their victory today, all on six field goals by Chris Boswell.
That’s the second time this season they have scored 18 points in a win, on six field goals by Boswell. They defeated the Falcons 18-10 in the first game of the season.
I seriously thought Seattle had no chance. Seattle hasn’t beaten San Francisco since December 2021, and Geno Smith hasn’t beaten San Francisco in his entire career (he was 0-5 going into this game).
Seattle’s defense has massively improved. They held the Rams to 13 points in regulation last game, and in this game held San Francisco to under 20 points for the first time since 2018.
Not saying Seattle is playoff-bound, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility at this point. They just need to keep improving.
