NFL 2026 Training Camp and Preseason Thread

Maybe NFC vs AFC trivia games. Give those guys a chance to prove they aren’t just dumb jocks!

It would still probably get better ratings than flag football.

Reminds me of a UK TV program in the 70s “Superstars” (that incidentally had the same theme music as MNF). In it sport stars of various sports competed against each other in other sporting events.
In one infamous moment Kevin Keegan, the captain of the England soccer team, and possible the best known British sportsman of the time crashed in a cycle race (competing on an athletics track), he cut himself up pretty badly but did continue in the subsequent events. Around that time most of the biggest, highest paid stars stopped competing, it is usually said to be because other commitments meant they didn’t have the time to compete in superstars but I wonder if the Keegan crash was also a factor.

There was a U.S. Version of Superstars, as well, which was pretty popular in the 1970s and 1980s. In the U.S., the fanfare from Jesus Christ Superstar was used for the theme music.

The Packers are thin at tight end: starter Tucker Kraft is coming back from ACL surgery, and while he is now practicing, and should be available for the season opener, he may not yet be back to 100%. Kraft’s primary backup, Luke Musgrave, suffered a neck injury during minicamp, and is on the PUP list; their other TEs are very green. So, they have signed veteran free agent Jonnu Smith.

Three months after being arrested, Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been formally charged with two misdemeanors in connection with a domestic incident involving him and his girlfriend in suburban Green Bay.

On his arrest in May, prosecutors had booked him on numerous crimes, including two felony charges, but after a lengthy investigation, most of the other charges were dropped. His first scheduled court date is November 17th.

I know it’s a small thing, but I’m glad the Tennesse Titans have adopted an Oilers looking color scheme. They always had some of the best uniforms in the league.

Speaking of athletes being arrested, here’s a not-so-good way to ingratiate yourself to your new teammates and fan base:

The Packers have made two trades in the run-up to today’s roster cutdowns.

With starting running back Josh Jacobs having been charged with two misdemeanors last week, related to a domestic incident in May, the Packers are apparently anticipating the league handing down a suspension. Their backups (Chris Brooks and MarShawn Lloyd) have limited experience, so Green Bay has traded with the Steelers for Kaleb Johnson, who was Pittsburgh’s third-round draft choice last year, but who had played little.

Backup quarterback Kyle McCord had played well for the Packers in the preseason, and had locked down the third-string QB spot; the Dolphins have traded for McCord, to be the primary backup to starter Malik Willis (another former Packer).

Update: Jacobs has been placed on the “commissioner exempt list.”

Giants finally have a distance punter. I don’t think they’ve ever had one before. Precision coffin corner, yes, but those are always a little shorter.

Giants were stopped, fourth down on their own 19. The punt lands on the Jets 12 and then just barely rolls into the end zone before the Giants could stop it. 69 yards in the air (noice), 81 yd total.

This is a very exciting development for a team that has lost at least 10 games eight out of the last nine seasons.

Cleveland continues to be Cleveland.
They opt to keep FOUR QBs on the 53 man roster. How will they accommodate this situation? The QBs will sit on each other’s shoulders wearing the famous Brown’s shirt commerating:roll_eyes: all the 40+ QBs started since last relavence.

Watson, Sanders, Dillion, and some other guy I can’t be arssed to look up again.

It’s slightly less bad than that. They put Dillon Gabriel on IR with some sort of back injury, so they only have 3 QBs on their roster and will presumably only ever keep 3 max on it at any time

But yeah, it really inspires confidence in their QB room, doesn’t it?

That’s better. I was afraid they’d done something stupideriest (my word and I’m keeping it).

Yeah, I’m sure Cleveland fans are thrilled the staff has only been somewhat and not totally incompetent since the turn of the century

and think about Haslam as also part-owner of Milwaukee Bucks

Aaron Donald has unretired so he can team up with Myles Garrett for the Rams. I’m sure they’re giddy in L.A.

Man that AFC East is something: #3, #6, #29, #32. Talk about the haves and have nots.

The NFC West has three teams in the top 10, and NFC North has three in the top 12. And then there’s the NFC South, with the top team at #18 and the rest in the bottom 10.
