The NFL preseason has officially begun with the HoF game last night. Of course, no one actually noticed because the field wasn’t covered in toxic chemicals this time.
The big news is the Tannehill may need season ending surgery. If he can’t play, who do the Dolphins pick up? Cutler (reuniting with his best OC), Romo, Kaep?
Cutler said he would leave his broadcasting job to play for only Adam Gase and for starter time and money.
As a Dolphin fan who is also a Packer fan, so I’ve seen Jay for a lot of years, all I can say is OH GOD NO! Anyone but him. Just play Moore, he did fine last year. I think Kaep is a godawful QB and I don’t want him. I could give two shits about whatever political BS he or anyone else thinks, he just sucks at quarterbacking.
Get surgery for Tanne, put in Moore, punt the season try again next year.
Probably just fan wank delusion but what is Brock Osweiler’s trade value IF the Browns were to eat most of his salary? He has experience with Adam Gase, should adapt quickly to the system and let’s say for example the Dolphins could get him for veteran minimum? The Browns have cap space to spend and love themselves some extra draft picks but what’s Brock worth especially considering he’d be a one year rental?
Nope, it was put entirely on the Browns’ shoulders. That’s why the initial trade was so weird and borderline illegal. Because the Browns essentially bought draft picks by taking on Brock’s salary
No, the trade was pretty much that the Browns took a 16 ish million dollar cap hit, and Osweiler in exchange for a 2nd round pick next year from the Texans. There was a flip of lower round picks but that wasn’t significant.
The Browns still have unused cap space and I ~believe~ they could offset Osweiler’s salary to make him far more tradeable. He isn’t getting first team reps in camp, we gain no cap space in cutting him so if a trade is at all possible it might be an attractive option.
Say a 6th rounder that turns into a 5th if he makes the opening day roster, could escalate to a 4rth if Brock takes 80+% of regular season offensive snaps. And because this is fan wank, it further escalates one round for every Dolphin’s playoff victory where Osweiler takes 90+% of offensive snaps.
Yes, I did eat paint chips as a child, why do you ask?
Oh no, that’s not his way. He’ll tease the fins fans with a few games that make him look like the second coming of Payton Manning mixed in with a few that make you think Johnny Manzel showed up before he gets hurt.
I’m no fan at all of Cam Newton, but his lack of practice time should be of concern to Panthers fans.
There’s not much to watch in the NFC South as I think the Falcons were as big of a fluke as the Panthers were in their super bowl runs. I’d like to see the Bucs take a step forward and see Winston establish himself this year.

I think it’s a stretch to call the Falcons a fluke. They took the Pats to the woodshed for an entire half during the Superbowl, and put up eye-popping offensive stats throughout the entire season.
I agree. The Panthers in 2015 had a defense that turned the ball over like nobody’s business (19.4% of opponents drives resulted in a turnover, which is 3% higher than any other team in the last 3 years, it was pretty extraordinary; not to mention the 7 they got in the NFC championship game), and an offense that dined on some very week defenses. Turnovers are not the most repeatable of stats, and when the Panthers defense returned more to the medium, they went 6-10 in 2016.
I think offensive performance is much more repeatable, and the Falcons have offensive weapons in spades. I don’t think Matt Ryan can possibly repeat last seasons performance, but I also don’t think his drop off is going to be as bad as Newtons was after his “MVP” season in 2015. The Falcons may not make it to the Super Bowl again, but I don’t think they’re anything close to a fluke.
Dolphins fans concerned that Cutler may not have kept himself in peak physical shape while preparing for the broadcast booth - let him put your mind at ease.
“The good thing is I play quarterback, so I don’t really have to be in that great of cardiovascular shape.”
I heard that clip on the radio about just about put my car in the ditch from laughter.
