Do you think having cheerleaders present at a football game really adds to the game? I mean you can’t hear the girls cheer over the crowd and you can’t hear the music they are dancing too.
What is your opinion on cheerleaders at the games?

I think cheerleaders add to any event at which they’re present. Heck, chess could be a major spectator sport if there were cheerleaders.
Mmmmmm…cheerleaders.
I like when they start spanking each other!
Real answer:
Add anything to game? No.
Part of the experience of being at the game? Yes.
I think you’re thinking of the cheerleaders from the “Replacements” - they were all exotic dancers who were subbing for the real cheerleaders when the teams were on strike.
If it happened in real life, it would be part of every game highligh show, or, at least be a segment on “The Man Show”
Unfortunately, most men aren’t paying attention to the cheerleaders when they’re on the TV anyway. In fact, if a good game is on, they don’t even pay attention to what’s going on around them. I bet Olive, the Other Reindeer that she could sit topless at a bar during a game, and no one would pay attention. Well, never one to ignore a dare, off came the top. It was 45 minutes before anyone even bothered to look her way - and that was because they were bringing out pizza for the half-time happy hour. As soon as they saw the pizza come out, they went back to the game. We were laughing our heads off!
There’s a big difference between what they do for a televised game and what they can add to a game you actually attend. We’ve been close at a number of NFL games and as much as I love football I’m still frequently distracted by their pompoms and all.
I’ll answer your question with a question.
What NFL team doesn’t have cheerleaders, and doesn’t want them?
Given the history of said franchise, does it really need them?
You’ve got to be more precise, Steelerphan, for while it is true that the Pittsburgh Steelers do not have cheerleaders, the Steeler’s arch-rival Cleveland doesn’t have cheerleaders either.
Give me the Oakland Raiderettes anyday.
Easy answer, the Detroit Lions.
a) Doesn’t have them
b) The Fords don’t want them
c) Given that so few actually watch them on TV, doesn’t need them
I can’t stand cheerleaders. I can’t stand anything that makes football games a more “family friendly” atmosphere or anything. If you need all these distractions to enjoy the game, don’t come to the game. Just play the game; the fans can yell their heads off without encouragement.
Cleveland has Cleveland-area cheerleaders, in that section of the end zone… I think they call it the “Dawg Pound” or something…
Cheerleaders make it more family friendly?
I like cheerleaders- I like any group of attractive women with an enforced short skirt policy.
However, keep in mind that the death of cheerleading might make school tolerable for those poor children who actually learn to read and write before college…
(there’s probably a Dopette who is or has been a cheerleader out there somewhere, and I’m going to get an angry response explaining that she had a 4.0 and was captain of the macrame team and senior class treasurer, but honestly the only reason I can stand cheerleaders is because I’m dating one…)
