He wasn’t really hyped as an NFL prospect. He was hyped because he was a college superstar a la Tim Tebow. Some pundits gave him a first-round grade, but others thought he was a mid-round pick at best.

NFL fans are fans of concussions, unfair labor practices, talent tossed aside the moment of injury. Fans of blood sport who won’t shut up about it. Fans of a game that is no better than any other game, yet look askance when somebody says, “y’know, I don’t really follow football.”
