Which seemed a strange decision to me. Obviously Peterson is going to be starting for the Vikings so that’s not an issue. But Bridgewater and Peterson have never played together. You’d think Zimmer would want them to be out on the field developing a rhythm.
I don’t think RB-QB “rhythm” is that big a deal. It’s not like a QB-center exchange, and Peterson doesn’t catch passes so I doubt they are going to accomplish much by throwing him screens.
Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham reportedly tore his ACL last night. Kicking in Pittsburgh isn’t like kicking everywhere else, and the Steelers are going to have a hard time replacing him.
Steelers wanted to get a look at Landry. And it looked pretty ugly. I watched most of the game, and Landry looked uncomfortable as hell. Lot of wild passes, bad scrambling, the works. Just one game, of course, but we’ll see.
You always hate to see a guy lose a season with an injury in a bullshit exhibition game. But there are a number every year.
When the hell are they going to put in FieldTurf? That mud bowl cannot be an advantage to anybody.
The Jets went full Jest! Geno Smith out 6-10 weeks with a broken jaw in a locker room fight! That is so Jets it’s unbelievable.
No truth to the rumor that they signed Fitzpatrick because his beard makes it hard to find his jaw.
I shall now call them Raiders East.
Whoever did that to Geno did more to help the Jets win this year than anything they could possibly do on the field.
Haha that’s brilliant.
Also I want to say on record that his name isn’t Ryan Fitzpatrick, his full name is “The Happily Married Ryan Fitzpatrick” since he has worn his wedding band on the field since day 1
It was some linebacker named IK Enemkpali that I’ve never heard of. This fight took place in the locker room, not on the field as a pushing match after a play.
Truly one of the more bizarre stories. What kind of bad blood exists between a fringe linebacker and the starting quarterback?
You mean former linebacker now, don’t you?
Never. The Steelers’ players prefer to play on it. Other teams hate to play on it, which is prima facie evidence that it gives Pittsburgh an advantage.
It’s not really a problem until the WPIAL championships, where they play 5 games in 2 days. Then Pitt plays on it. That’s when it gets chewed up. The Lawn Dart game on Monday night was the 7th game in 4 days, played on new sod that didn’t have time to take due to a downpour.
I’ll note that just a couple days ago, Cam Newton, a very well (and over-) paid “franchise” QB got into fisticuffs with a starting CB, but that was out on the field after Cam threw in interception. Maybe it’s open season on QB’s.
Newton apparently started that fight because the CB was showboating after picking him off.
I like and root for the Jets, and even I can’t stop laughing at this story.
Some reports indicate the locker room fight was over money that Smith owed.
I knew the Jets were in trouble as soon as I heard that George R.R. Martin likes them. I bet he’s really to blame somehow. Probably anger over the delay on the sixth book.
Anything more concrete than Boomer Esiason taking out his ass?
Adam Schefter reported that it was over a $600 plane ticket
