Hell, post a player on the sidelines with a sheet of plywood. That way if the play is going poorly, chuck the ball at the plywood. The ball hit an object! Redo!

If the plywood is out of bounds, it’s not in play, so the rule doesn’t come into effect.

The rule in this case states that if this happens the host city must build a damn dome quick. If it happens *in *a dome you have bigger problems.

The ball is in play the millisecond before it strikes the plywood, no? A receiver can catch a ball (with his feet inbounds) that is in flight out of bounds, correct?

So that ball is in play when it strikes the piece of plywood. Redo.
