NFL Training camps and preseason

He has Beason for the panthers. Now, Beason’s a very good player, but linebacker is probably their deepest position (except maybe RB.) If they lose Beason they still have other good linebackers. If they lose Steve Smith… they have Dwayne Jarrett and Mushin Muhammad.

While Patrick Willis is certainly the best defensive player on the 49ers, and a favorite of mine, the ENTIRE offense is built around frank Gore.

That article is retarded. Tony Gonzalez is the Falcons’ “all-indispensable” player? Yes, he’s so important to their success that they… made the playoffs without him last season.

Megatron is undoubtedly the Lions’ most indispensable player. Lions quarterbacks threw 18 touchdown passes last season and 12 of them went to Johnson.

Brandon Jacobs is more important than Eli Manning? Are they high?

Chad Ochocinco has been known to be a soccer fanatic. Today, he subs for Shayne Graham who’s out with a sore groin.

Chad kicked the extra point on the Bengals lone TD against the Patsies, and kicked off to start the second half. Chad kicked it to about the 10 yard line. Dude is a pretty good replacement kicker!

Yeah, I just skimmed the article at first and noticed the Shaun Smith thing. After reading it it’s pretty silly. Which is weird, because SI isn’t a total rag.

Agreed. He annoys the crap out of me, but he’s certainly a decent kicker and would do if they lost Graham for a few games. His XP was drilled…if it were a field goal attempt it likely would have been good from close to 40 yards or so. His kickoff wasn’t a whole lot shorter than the average NFL kickoff either, though it was more of a line drive…too little hangtime.

From the sound of it he’s already better than Lawrence Tynes.

Surprised the helloutta me. Is there anything he can’t do (besides STFU)?

I’m bummed I missed this. I’ll have to be sure to catch the replay of the game. I saw a few highlights of Chaz and he was looking pretty good, better than he did last season.

That shouldn’t be surprising since he was playing with a separated shoulder all of last season (and with Ryan Fitzpatrick as his quarterback for most of it).

I think Steve Smith might well be the best wide receiver since Jerry Rice. Triple coverage is required, and even then he might snatch the ball and run it into the endzone.

The video of the extra point is on NFL.com somewhere.

And Chad looks scary good right now. His speed is unreal.

And let me tell you guys something else: Chris Henry is a really talented wideout. This is going to be his breakout season. He really seems to have (finally) gotten his act together, become a family man, etc.

Heard on the local sports-talk radio station, regarding tomorrow’s Raiders-49ers game:
“Will the 49ers run it to Tom Cable’s side of the field?”

Damn, that QB for the Vikings is looking really damn good. 12/15 202 yards, 2 td’s and 0 int so far. I heard they had signed some great QB, but still, those are some pretty damn fine numbers.

Don’t worry, he has plenty of time to pull a late season meltdown.

:stuck_out_tongue:

He was talking about Tarvaris Jackson. Favre was pathetic.

I should have known. I didn’t check the line on the game. Too funny.

Haha, the Browns are stomping the preseason champs!

SUPERBOWL!

The Lions look horrible. The D line is being pushed around like they are on roller skates. The O line can not make holes. They can not make any room to run. The pass defense is a sieve. The Brownspots are throwing it down the field at will. Yet only 20 to 0.
