Collinsworth was talking about interceptions in the red zone; Boley’s pick was at midfield.
Totally agree on the other one.

Ah, okay, that makes sense.
I am surprised that the Cowboys played so well. Also surprised to see Witten out there. I had thought his injury was far more serious than it apparently was. Romo played really well and the Cowboys running attack chewed up that Giants defensive line.
In his defense, shortly after saying that, he and Al made jokes about how he had jinxed it. But what was interesting was that, although there were a slew of penalties, by and large they were the correct calls. Linval Joseph was offside. Tyron Smith was holding. Dez Bryant was moving. Whatever that guy’s name is did illegally ram his hands up under the other guys facemask. They missed the holding call you’ve mentioned (repeatedly), but by and large it was a well officiated game and that call is one the regular refs may have missed too.
Well, Browns fans got a present. Their season looks rough, but Art Modell ran into sudden death.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Somewhere, Paul Brown is smiling. A lot.
Repeatedly? I think I only mentioned it once.
I’ve bugged your house and your computer. I also can read minds. I stand by “repeatedly”.
(Or I could have mistaken you for VarlosZ. But in that case, it would have been a mistake, which we all know I never make.)
More heartening is the calls that the refs didn’t make. For much of the game it seemed they walked the line between calling what should be called and letting the grey area stuff go. At the end of the game they may have tightened up a little and threw too many flags, but I didn’t watch closely enough to say for sure.
Early in the game there were a lot of non-holds on JPP and Tuck that they correctly let go even if the announcers called them out on it. Ditto on some of the contact in the secondary by Carr and Barron.
My favorite part of Week one so far is the new ESPN commercial starring John Clayton.
You can watch it here
Ha! That’s great!
After 1 game, the NFL season is dead to me. DEAD, I say. Bring on hockey. Go ISLANDERS.
What lockout?
I look at as karma for them missing the illegal pick on Cruz’s 26 yard catch.
Ditto - love the tear-away fake suit.
Dammit - this happened, and now I’m a fan of the Ravens. (Ravens player speaks out in favor of gay marriage, Maryland congressman sends a letter to the Ravens demanding action to quell the voice of their player.)
But that did cause this to happen (Vikings punter writes article to attack idiot congressman).
So the Saints bounty players have all been reinstated on appeal. Will any of them play Week 1?
I bet Will Smith plays. Vilma still has knee problems, so he may not play.
That letter from Chris Kluwe is awesome…and hilarious.
Fujita is a Brown now. He’ll play, I’d bet.
Well boys and girls, this is it. Games starting at 1pm EST! Ah, a full day of football, followed by an intriguing MNF matchup in Baltimore. I am at work now, scheming as to how I can leave early to catch some of the first round of games before I have to go pick up my sons from their mom.
That PIT/DEN game is going to be a pretty interesting one. Is Manning really back?
I am all a flutter with anticipation.
