The officials in GB-SF are really bad, but to be fair they have been screwing both teams equally.
When the local radio broadcast syncs up well enough with the network video feed I like to turn the sound down on the TV and listen to the radio. In the 3rd quarter Jim Donovan, the radio play by play guy mentioned something about a fight breaking out in front of their press box.
I thought it was my imagination but I could have sworn I heard someone say “I never said Richardson could carry Jerome Harrison’s jock, Senor” followed by a muffled thud.
That was my imagination.,.. Right?
Niners pick off Aaron Rodgers!!
Frank Gore rushing touchdown!!
49ers 30 - GB 15!! (8:41 left in the 4th)
GB is making a game of it late.
Testify. I watched portions of this game on and off, and when you can baffle Troy Aikman’s concussion-addled brain, you aren’t doing it right. This has been some of the worst officiating I have ever witnessed.
Oh please come back, Ed Hochuli and your muscles.
Bears looked great in a dominating win. Was a great game to be at. That passing attack seems legit and while the O line started out terribly, they stabilized quite a bit as the game wore on. Forte and Bush were the 1-2 punch I hoped for and Bush was good at the goal line exceeding my expectations. The only red flag for me was Cutler. In the first quarter he was rusty and way off target and threw a Grossman-like pick-six. After that he settled in nicely and made all the plays, but he was throwing into triple coverage all day long. It worked way better than it should and most of those throw were absolutely perfect. That said, I’m not sure those WRs are going to catch all those balls with opponents all around and I’m not sure the opposing defense is going to commit that many pass interference penalties. Might not be sustainable. But, it worked great today.
The stats might not be all good for Luck, but the kid is for real. He was amazing out there with a terrible O line of his own and against a defense that was playing great. He was amazingly poised and generally very accurate and able to move away from near-constant pressure. RG3 will get all the pub this week, justifiably, but Luck is going to make Colts fans very happy. Fleener was pretty impressive too and Luck leaned on him a bunch.
Some truly amazing plays in this one, especially Jennings interception, Peppers interception and Wayne and Forte’s catches. So glad football is back.
ETA: Oh yeah, and the Packers just lost! Today keeps getting better.
Well, not much positive from that Green Bay game except Randall Cobb.
Randall Cobb did have a good game. Aaron Rodgers made some surprising mistakes. That was the 49ers’ 1st win at Lambeau since 1990.
The Niners gave the Pack a through beating in the trenches. They ran all over our front 7, and beat the living stuffing out of our O Line. Sure their coach is still kinda a dick and it wasn’t the best called game, but they deserved the win and best of luck to them for the rest of the season.
Thursday Night. Bears come to Lambeau. Now that will be fun.
It’s the Colts. See you Thursday.
I’m not sure how well received the Bears are going to be against the Pack after the wound-licking loss they just suffered. Although…maybe they could magically lose two in a row?
It wouldn’t be magic, it would be poor offensive line play and the inability to stop the run.
You know it’s bad when Vikings fans are buying me beers.
It’s been sometime since you’ve seen the Vikings and the Gophers both ahead of the Packers and Badgers in the standings, and we all want to enjoy it while it lasts.
Anyone else get the feeling that the officials have the NFL right where they want them? I figured that negotiations started again about 30 seconds after Pete Carroll called his 4th timeout.
I also have to give credit to the Niners defense. If there is a better one I’ll be shocked.
There’s not, but there were PLENTY of bad calls (and no-calls) from this armchair observer’s opinion.
Here, let me help you with that:
2008: Redskins start 6-2, finish 8-8.
2009: Redskins start 2-2, finish 4-12.
2010: Redskins start 4-3, finish 6-10.
2011: Redskins start 3-2, finish 5-11.
I picked Peyton and his new team tonight, but Big Ben is looking like a pretty good QB tonight, so far.
Pretty close game, right now it’s Pit 19 - Den 14, with 14:11 left in the 4th.
Scoreboard.
In what might be one of the biggest oversights of the year, I booked a flight to Vegas at 7PM on Thursday. Totally forgot that the Bears-Pack game was a TNF tilt. :smack:
Outside chance I’ll be able to sneak out of work early Thursday and land in time for kickoff, we’ll see.
