NFL Week 1

Kudos to Harry Connick Jr. for not doing anything of that horrible “land of the free-eeeeee-EEEEEE-eeeee” stuff during the national anthem. God, I hate that.

It’s a perfectly good song. It doesn’t need your shitty embellishment, Miss American Idolt runner-up/local bar singer.

ETA: Big Ben missed a wide open guy running a crossing route right to left on that third down.

Just to get the pick on record.

PITTSBURGH 6 Tennessee 35
I think the Steelers offense will struggle most of the season and Tennessee will be able to run the ball just enough to win a slug fest. Both teams will get some big defensive plays that generate points forcing the over.

The Pick: Titans 23 - Steelers 20

Woo! And we’re off. Go Titans.

I’ll take Pittsburgh, 17-7.

That Steelers Line looks terrible and Ben looks lost out there.

Wow that Steeler O Line is looking pretty pathetic.

By the by, how many lucky bounces can Sepulvada get?

Nice, Hines ward with another dirty play and they praise his blocking… again

Boy those Steelers and their fans are a bit whiny aren’t they?

All I’m hearing is hate for the Steelers here. No whining.

And then he has a Leon Lett-esque, idiotic play (couldn’t happen to a bigger douchebag, says I), which Collinsworth somehow praises as “competitive.”

I don’t know that I’d call it idiotic. He was trying to advance the ball and Michael Griffin made a brilliant defensive play; it wasn’t like Ward was waving the ball around or something.

Man, Roethlisberger is going to get himself killed one of these days.

Boy, we couldn’t even get out of the gate without the ignorant whining. Oh well, one of the tougher games out of the way, and the Steelers are 1-0.

It breaks my heart to have a Steeler team that can’t run the ball. At least they took Parker out of the game. Perhaps Tomlin will start to see the light. And as much as my heart might hurt with no running game, the ass-kickingest defense in history kind of makes up for it.

See y’uns in Chicago next week.

Yep, I’ve been thinking that for years now. Their O-line sucks and he holds onto the ball all day, and he takes massive numbers of big hits. And he shrugs off every one.

He took a Buick to the face, rubbed some dirt on it, and walked it off. He’s never going down.

It’s not Parker. Moore and Mendenhall were equally ineffective. It’s your line.

Our line is not very good, but Parker sucks. He is taken down almost every time by the first guy to touch him. I’ll take a two or three yard gain from a guy who can at least fall forward at this point. I think we would at least have something to build on. Parker is guaranteed to give us way too many 2-10 or 2-12 situations to overcome.

Bwahahaha!

It hurts, doesn’t it? It cuts your Browns-loving hide right to the bone that Pittsburgh won tonight. That’s all right, the Browns will have their chance to get beat this year. Twice.

No joke. When, precisely, did Pittsburgh become a passing team? They might as well be running the West Coast offense for as much as they have to pass. Looks like the offensive line isn’t going to be any better this year. I suppose it needs only be good enough to win the Super Bowl, though. Kinda like last year. Which the Browns saw on TV. Again.

Looks like Polamalu is out for 3-6 weeks with a sprained MCL.

It’s a shame too, because he was showing just what a dominant force he is tonight.

The only bright spot is that the Steelers willl be at Chicago, at Cincinatti, hosting the Chargers, at Detroit, hosting Cleveland and hosting Minnesota during that time period. So it’s like a schedule with a couple of bye weeks in there during which Troy can rest up and get healthy.

That kind of offensive play (including last year’s Super Bowl win) isn’t sustainable. If Big Ben keeps getting hit like that, he’s going to land on IR sooner or later. He’s been really lucky to go this long without a serious (football) injury.

DAMMIT! I’ve got Ward on my fantasy team and he hasn’t done jack all night…

…and then he does THAT??? :smack:

pardon me… I need another drink.
