It’s happening! Where is everybody? Food comas don’t last THIS long.

Go bengals!

Suh just tackled Dion Lewis by his face mask. Refs missed it. He’s such a dirty player.

KC is clearly in post-season form

What is wrong with Kansas City? They started all gangbusters and now they look like…Kansas City…

Yeah I don’t follow KC but was wondering the same. Seemed like they came out of the gate pretty fast but they’ve been getting progressively worse. Wondering if any Chiefs die-hards can shed some light as to why.

Am watching the Rams and have to say I’m impressed by what I see. Balanced offensive attack - clearly what they were lacking under Jeff Fisher’s supervision - and a tough and tenacious defense, which I will give some credit to the Fish for building. I think the Rams remind me of the 49ers under Harbaugh in 2011. They already had a good culture of toughness but they needed more creativity on offense. Looks like they’ve got it.

I can’t do the ‘die-hard Chiefs fan’ analysis, but we sure as shooting have a QB controversy now. I expect billboards for Mahomes to pop up shortly. Smith really does seem to have lost the script: he’s not the MVP gunslinger he was in games 1 through 5, but has also apparently lost his ‘game manager’ skills and is throwing the ball away.

Scared to watch the Packers game.
How about those Badgers?

Brian

Kareem Hunt has been on my fantasy team since week 1 and I’m trying really hard to be patient and not drop him. Maybe I should do it anyway. That entire team is a shadow of what it was earlier this year.

Some studio commentator (I forget which one) claimed Smith is going to finish the season on the field, no matter what, because benching him would reduce his trade value. How that would reduce it more than his *playing *does was unstated.

At least the Pack will not be shut out…

From the KC Newspaper this morning:

The Chiefs are a mess and Alex Smith is the messiest part

It’s clear now that Chiefs’ 5-0 start was nothing but fool’s gold

I didn’t watch the (to me) surprising Eagles do bad things to the demonstrably pitiful Bears, but Twitter brings you one of the best crowd posters I have ever seen.

That is hilarious!

If the backup is even worse, then Smith’s value drops, as he’s not even good enough to start over THAT GUY. If the offense picks up a la the Texans with Watson, then Smith is everything that was wrong with the Chiefs offense. This late in the season, there’s no upside for the Chiefs, at a game over .500, looking like they’ll limp into the playoffs if the Chargers recent run evaporates.

Who is the Chiefs’ backup QB, anyway?

Patrick Mahomes, the 10th pick in the last draft.

Didn’t they trade up to get him, too?

Yes they did (even gave up a first round from next year) but Mahomes is a project. He was drafted as the QB of the future and they had no intention of playing him this year. He’s not even taking snaps at practice with the team. I think they’d have to be desperate to start him.

The team as it is now was built around Smith, which is why when he’s floundering the whole team goes with him. (Yes that might happen to any team when their QB has lost it but the Chiefs are particularly vulnerable to that.) The team would need major adjustments and honestly it probably wouldn’t be more successful. Better to ride this to the end then trade Smith for whatever you can get and get the team ready in the offseason for Mahomes to take over in 2018.

Over in Stupid World East, the 2-9 New York Giants are benching Eli Manning. They are not doing this to take an extended look at third rounder Davis Webb, which might be at least a bit defensible. Nope. They are bringing the curtain down on the career of the signature Giant of the last decade - a two time Super Bowl MVP and a pretty solid citizen - in the most humiliating and awkward way possible, all in order to give snaps in a lost season to Geno. Smith.

Man, I hope Ben McAdoo and his creeper facial hair gets fired, then re-hired, then immediately fired again. And I’ve been defending Jerry Reese, but after this, he can go fuck himself too.
