NFL Week 16

Jesus just tripped that receiver.

That ended well, though!

Lions are looking good so far. At the start of the season I was hoping we would go at least 9-7. We are there now with a good chance of making the playoffs. First good year to be a Lions fan in a long time.

Well, Indy and Minnesota won, St. Louis lost, and the Browns lost. All good for the Browns draft position. Only thing that could’ve worked out better is if Jacksonville lost. So that’s something.

From the Browns board

Yeah, I am finally sold on Stafford as a long term centerpiece. I didn’t like hm much in college, and was pretty disappointed in the pick. But happily I was wrong, he is good enough to take us places.(Assuming his injury luck doesn’t go crappy again).

Giants win.
Rex Ryan gets a hot, steaming cup of STFU splashed in his face.
The Scumbirds are out of the hunt.
Tony Womo gets busted up.

<wipes away tear>…Thank you, Santa!

Carlos Rodgers kept Tavaris Jackson out of the end zone on a broken play to keep the no-rushing-TD streak alive for the 49ers. Wow.

So, now that Tebow still sucks, but is no longer winning (and quite possibly might be causing losses), are his sycophants falling off the Bandwagon?

Streak? They haven’t allowed a rushing touchdown this year? Wow, indeed.

Jinx!

I shouldn’t think so. They can blame it on the defense allowing the Bills offense their best game since early this year.

Broncos vs. Kyle Orton and the Chiefs at home; Oakland also at home against the Chargers. (Both late games on New Year’s Day.) Hmm . . .

But the Bills’ offense was only able to get on the field so much because of Tebow’s 4 INTs.

How so? The Bills scored 7 points on special teams and 14 on defense. The Bills’ offense only scored 19 points, and some of those were off of turnovers. Tim Tebow threw more TD passes to the Bills than Fitzpatrick did. 19 points is hardly an overwhelming offensive performance.

The Lions are in the playoffs. My 64-year-old dad ended up in the hospital today (diverticulitis), so he didn’t even get to see it happen. He’ll recover in the next few days, but I’m disappointed I didn’t get to share this win with him.

Jerome Simpsons of the Bengals - touchdown flip. This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in football. And he sticks the landing!

I said afterwards that he should have done the Olympic-style dismount to seal the deal, but yea, that was frigging AWESOME.

I was at the Panthers rout of the Bucs today. Really fun game to be at, and seeing Newton’s long TD run up close (first level end zone seats) was awesome. If they can get better defensively in the off season they are going to be good enough to be a playoff team next year.

I was at the Pats-Dolphins game today (which started badly but ended well). Late in the game they showed that play during one of the Red Zone breaks, and the whole stadium went “whooooah.” It was pretty cool.

While I find NY teams and their fans insufferable, I do so enjoy watching Rex Ryan get his loud mouth shut on the field. Kudos to the less sucky Giants, for beating the Jets. Now if both you teams could kindly fade back into obscurity, that’d really make my day.

19 points is the average Tebow win. That includes points scored by the defense.

From your mouth to Og’s ear, and I’m definitely thinking about coming back for some home games next season. The Cam Newton Show has been pretty great to watch.

That would have been fun to hear! Even my non-football SO sat up and said “whoa.”
