NFL Week 2

Retaliation. Justin Tuck intimated exactly that when he said “It won’t be forgotten”. It’s not Schiano’s knees that will be dived at, and it won’t be him who will face cheap shots by O linemen, so it won’t matter much to him. But the Bucs’ defensive linemen were pretty clear in getting their message out that it was the coach’s decision and not theirs. At least they seem to understand how it works.

If they push the center into Eli and he drops the ball, they might be able to run it back. Something of the sort has happened before, to the Giants no less. There’s a reason why they call it the Victory formation, and there’s a reason why they trouble themselves to position the players the way they do. If you’re down in position and the game isn’t over, you should be ready for anything.

Oh, wah. Defensive linemen have been complaining about knee-diving in the Alex Gibbs blocking scheme for years.

Hey, I could give two fucks if Gerald McCoy goes down for the year with a knee injury, but you can be sure as hell he does. And I couldn’t care less if Michael Bennett gets cut after a cheap shot puts him on IR, but he does. Which is why they were pretty clear in getting the message out that it was the coach, not them, who made the decision.

No, the goal was to hit or knock someone into Eli, cause a fumble, recover the fumble, and score the winning touchdown. Merely causing a fumble would still be a failure, but I think it is obvious that such a failure would show the play wasn’t pointless. Just as successfully knocking someone into Eli and sending him sprawling before he could take a knee showed it probably wasn’t entirely pointless.

Having said that, I’m not opposed to the idea that it was bush league and just isn’t done in the NFL.

Prior experience suggests McCoy will go down with a knee injury, and if the Giants want to take deliberate shots at other players, that’s their problem.

Holy shit, Peyton.

No doubt. 3 INT’s in the 1st Q?

Go Falcons!

Make that holy fucking shit.

Peyton Manning what the fuck? How is my kicker supposed to get me a single fantasy point when you keep throwing interceptions? Holy shit indeed.

Bad officiating saving the Falcons drive…

I don’t see why Denver is challenging this - it’s not like the officials won’t give them an even more opportune time to challenge.

Then again, the way Peyton is playing, I’m sure Denver wants to minimize the number of yards he’ll have to move the offense…

I’m convinced that if this ref situation goes on for a couple more weeks, there is going to be a call so bad that some stupid hothead will make death threats against the crew, or at least the ref.

This is ridiculous.

Broncos didn’t gave to challenge, every turnover is reviewed

Once the call was made, I agree there’s no way to overturn it. But man, I don’t know what’s more painful. Watching Denver freaking implode (I’m amazed they’re currently only down by 10) or having to watch this excuse for officiating.

4 turnovers, 13 points… this Falcons team isn’t really impressing me. I would not be shocked (surprised, yes) if they lose this game.

This game is crawling along. Can’t believe there’s still 9:00 left in the 2nd quarter.

Um, where was the PI on that play? Fucking defender was 3 yards away from the receiver.

I’m telling you, at some point somebody is going to start getting death threats. The only question will be if it’s the scabs or the commish.

Second bullshit holding call. So which refs are Falcons fans???

Holy crap. First half has taken almost 2hrs.
