NFL Week 3

With apologies to SenorBeef, but the Thursday night game has already begun:
Thursday
KC @ PHI

Sunday early
GB @ CIN
STL @ DAL
SD @ TEN
CLE @ MIN
TB @ NE
ARI @ NO
DET @ WSH
NYG @ CAR
HOU @ BAL

Sunday late
ATL @ ARI
IND @ SF
JAC @ SEA

SNF
CHI @ PIT

MNF
OAK @ DEN

I know they both suck, but Bills @ Jets should be included in the list of games.

KC should be blowing out Philly, but they can’t find the endzone with a map.

Good call.

I hated for the Texans to lose Conor Barwin. He’s fun to watch on and off the field.

Gotta feel good for Reed tonite. Damn, McCoy’s in some real pain.

What happened to him? Is he on IR or did they trade him? He’s a local Cincinnati guy.

Barwin? He went to Philadelphia in free agency this last off season. Already a difference maker on defense for the Eagles.

I admit it’s a shame for the Texans, but they really couldn’t afford it.

Houston is virtually training the Eagles. They’ve got Ryans, Barwin, James Casey, and just got Roc Carmichael off the Texans’ practice squad.

He was a contributor but his numbers had dropped, I think 3 sacks compared to a dozen the year before. Meanwhile Watt’s were going through the roof. A free agent, the Texans tried to keep him but not as hard as Philly. 36M/6 I think.

Yeah, lots of Texans in Phily now. Same with Baltimore… Denver.

Don’t forget Jeff Maehl, too.

Jason Babin’s gone now, right? I think he’s a Panther or Jag now.

Where was this version of LeSean McCoy when I drafted him first overall in my fantasy league last season?

Worst defense in the NFL goes to the Eagles. Seriously, this is embarrassing. The only way to improve it? Let the opponent score. That way you get the ball back quicker! KC just had another long-ass drive killing the clock and extend the lead. And about 90% of 3rd downs turn into 1st downs.

Terrible on every play.

This was the first Eagles game I really got to watch this year and for all the hype around Chip Kelly, I was not all that impressed. You can see some hints of an amazing offense, but this game, at least, came down to Michael Vick being Michael Vick. Two interceptions and a fumble undo all the highlight reel plays.

And color me impressed with the Chiefs. They were not dominant, but they are certainly a team heading in the right direction

Very happy I picked up and started KC DEF in my fantasy league. Several sites said not to do it, but I had a hunch, and it paid off with big points tonight.

KC offense was underwhelming. They should have hung 40 on the Eagles tonight. 5 turnovers, and they couldn’t manage but 23 points? Yikes.

I only saw bits and pieces of a couple drives, but my impression was that Alex Smith is a real quarterback. Am I crazy?

He was a real QB last year in SF too. Not Kaepernick goodbut not everybody is.

And so far this season Kaepernick hasn’t been very good. It will be interesting to see if this continues if the 49ers show buyer’s remorse…it would be fitting, in a way.

Either way, Harbaugh is going to bitch and blame someone else…

The Eagles looked awful and the real Michael Vick showed up like everyone expected. Still, the defense was much better (improving to bad from absolutely terrible), and against one of the top defenses in the NFL in the first two weeks, the Eagles still put up 431 yards. Teams are always sloppy on these Thursday games, the Eagles might yet figure this out. They still have a shot in the NFC East.

Somebody needs to figure out how to stop the injury faking thing. The Chiefs were especially egregious. Someone magically got a cramp every single time the Eagles went up-tempo, and they didn’t even bother to fake looking like they were in pain.

No kidding. The NFC East is a disgrace this year. They’re already 25% into week 3 and if I’m not mistaken, they have ZERO wins against the rest of the league.

The fake injury thing is definitely a cheese tactic, totally embarrassing. This isn’t soccer or basketball! And I say this as a fan of the flopping Giants.

However, I will say that it’s a tactical response to the cheese tactic of hurry-up all game. The hurry-up is much less cheesy, to be sure, but there is definitely a stink of cheese to it. “Hurry up and line up so the defense can’t substitute!”

Yeah, both tactics run counter to the spirit of the rules of the game, IMO.
