NFL Yardage Pool Competition 2011

294/2 + 35 + 127 = 309

Pretty solid week, but damn it McCoy! I keep you in my hip pocket for 16 weeks and this is the output I get from you in an easy win?

Used:
QB: Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Matt Schaub, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Cam Newton; Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Big Ben, Tony Romo, Mark Sanchez, Tom Brady, Josh Freeman, Matt Stafford, Carson Palmer, Andy Dalton, Michael Vick
RB: Frank Gore, Darren McFadden, LeSean McCoy, Ryan Matthews, Arian Foster. Matt Forte, Rashard Mendenhall, Fred Jackson, Stephen Jackson, MJD, Demarco Murray, Michael Turner, Ray Rice, CJ2K, Felix Jones, Michael Bush
WR: Marques Colston, Calvin Johnson, Kenny Britt, Roddy White, Hakeem Nicks, Mike Wallace, Miles Austin, AJ Green, Brandon Lloyd. Steve Smith (CAR), Anquan Boldin, Greg Jennings, Wes Welker, Vincent Jackson, Jordy Nelson, Brandon Marshall

Subject to change, I’ll go with:
Joe Flacco
Marshawn Lynch
Larry Fitzgerald

Marshall had 143 yards receiving, and 13 rushing - but you don’t add rushing yards for receivers, just the receiving yards. Have you been doing that all season? Same with RBs - only rushing yards counts, and QBs only passing yards.

Spreadsheet up.

Week 16

Wilson 360
SenorBeef 338
Omni 309
RNATB 292

I don’t think missing most of the games hurt you RNATB - McCown outperformed Dalton, and White was a much better pick than Vincent Jackson. Grant at 44 was bleh but probably not enough to offset whatever else you’d have picked.

Going into the final week

  1. SenorBeef 4677
  2. Wilson 4627
  3. RNATB 4623
  4. Omni 4157

I never expected it to be this close at the end. I was so far ahead that it took me some epically bad weeks for you guys to catch up.

That’s weird - according to Yahoo, Marshall had 156 yards receiving and zero rushing, I just went by that. I see the nfl.com site has the 143 and 13…

Maybe it was a near-pass lateral or something.

ESPN also has 143 recieving, 13 rushing. I went through the play-by-play of the game on ESPN - it must be a play in the 4th quarter, that’s listed in the play-by-play as a 13 yard reception. It must have originally been called a reception and then changed to a rush - like you said, a borderline lateral or something.
Going to be annoyed if I lose by 13 or less, though!

qb - freeman, grossman, fitzpatrick, painter, stafford, rodgers, romo, roethlisberger, manning, newton, alex smith, matt ryan, brady, rivers. brees, McCown
rb - hillis, greene, mendenhall, forte, blount, turner, mcfadden, cj2k, jackson, mjd, marshawn, demarco murray, gore, ray rice, grant, foster
wr - nicks, johnson, santana moss, calvin johnson, ec mike williams, bryant, cruz, bowe, smith 1, jennings, brandon lloyd, welker, crabtree, cruz, white

This week:
Carson Palmer
Ryan Mathews
Maclin

Out of curiosity, here’s how we were doing this time last year:

I’m beating myself by 39 yards! I noticed I totally forgot to pick Week 17 until the Monday night game last year, just like I did Week 16 this year. Stupid holidays.

Yup, last again, I suck at this game.

I thought by week 17 I’d be scraping the bottom of the barrel, but I’ve got some pretty good options. I might change these before the games start but if I’m not up in time I’ll get some picks in just in case.

Vick
Lynch
Fitzgerald

Well my odds of catching Mr. Beef aren’t good if we have two of the same picks, so I’ll switch to:
Joe Flacco
CJ Spiller
Victor Cruz

Used
QB - Philip Rivers, Rex Grossman, Drew Brees, Matthew Stafford, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler, Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Cassel, Eli Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton, Tony Romo, Tom Brady, Alex Smith, Jake Locker, Matt Moore
RB - Darren McFadden, Peyton Hillis, Michael Turner, Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Shonn Greene, Ray Rice, Ryan Matthews, Steven Jackson, Frank Gore, Michael Bush, Rashard Mendenhall, LaGarrett Blount, MJD, Arian Foster, LeSean McCoy
WR - Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennings, Brandon Marshall, Larry Fitzgerald, Percy Harvin, Miles Austin, Vincent Jackson, DeSean Jackson, Victor Cruz, Dez Bryant, Steve Smith 1.0, Jimmy Graham, Torrey Smith, Wes Welker, Roddy White

Week 17 Picks
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Marshawn Lynch
Malcolm Floyd

Oh hey, sorry, I honestly didn’t try to copy you - I didn’t even notice you’d made your picks since it was a few days ago.

BTW heads up RNATB, Mathews is questionable.

Damn, I was wavering between Vick and Fitzpatrick and so far picked the wrong one.

Why didn’t I think the start Matt Flynn? I knew they’d try to showcase him.

I’ll go with Michael Bush instead then.

For the early games

Vick 335
Fitzpatrick 307
Maclin 105
Spiller 60

417/2 + 66 + 105 = 384.5

SB: 335/2 + 86 + 149 = 402.5

Looks like Flacco fucked Wilson. Congratulations, SB!

Wow, what a finish. I figured by week 17 we’d all be scraping by (especially at QB) but we had our first week where all contestants scored above 300. I scored only the 4th 400+ game of the season. Going out with a bang.

Final spreadsheet

Week 17 scores:

  1. SenorBeef 403
  2. RNATB 380
  3. Omni 367
  4. Wilson 303

Which leads to:

Adjusted totals (final score)

  1. SenorBeef 5080
  2. RNATB 5003
  3. Wilson 4954
  4. Omni 4524

By position (including dropped week):

QB:

  1. SenorBeef 2414
  2. RNATB 2343
  3. Wilson 2334
  4. Omni 2146

RB:

  1. Wilson 1473
  2. RNATB 1362
  3. SenorBeef 1343
  4. Omni 1236

WR:

  1. SenorBeef 1323
  2. RNATB 1298
  3. Wilson 1147
  4. Omni 1142

Here’s what the scores would’ve been without any adjustment (without halving QB, without dropping worst week):

Totals

  1. SenorBeef 7611
  2. RNATB 7521
  3. Wilson 7457
  4. Omni 6787

Position
QB

  1. SenorBeef 4920
  2. RNATB 4851
  3. Wilson 4798
  4. Omni 4399

RB

  1. Wilson 1496
  2. RNATB 1366
  3. SenorBeef 1362
  4. Omni 1236

WR

  1. SenorBeef 1329
  2. RNATB 1304
  3. Wilson 1163
  4. Omni 1152

In case you lost it in all that data,

SenorBeef Wins

whichever way you count it.

I apparently misspelled “Matt Flynn” as “Joe Flacco”. An easy mistake to make.

Congrats, SB.
